HART'S POV
I was reading a book on the sofa. When I say 'reading', I mean braille. It was the Hunger Games? Yeah, Catching fire. I had got the whole set in Braille so I could 'read' it. I love the books, they are awesome. Carrie was purring by my side and I was stroking her.
'Don't touch the gas Katniss!' I say and I feel someone join me on the sofa.
'Reading again? You are a bookworm aren't you?' Benja said.
'It's a good book! Why you judge me?' I say in a kiddie voice.
'i'm not.'
'Where's Big Bacca?' I ask.
'Coming in a minute.' He says.
I carry on reading and I could sense Mitch watching me as I read the Braille book. Suddenly a loud bang sounds and I jump, dropping the book in the process. Another bang follows and I curl up against Mitch.
'You alright?' He asks.
'I don't like storms. Everybody told me that if I went outside I would get struck by lightning and die. and that I would burn in hell. Because I am blind, it was easy to scare me and make me imagine things. They often made loud bangs and everything during a storm. Been scared since.' I say.
'Really? You won't actually.' Mitch went onto explain the function of storms and why they happen. I love hearing things explained because I imagine what they say due to the fact I can't see.
'Oh. Ok. Sorry.' I apologise, feeling around for the book.
It gets handed to me by Benja.
'Thanks Mitch.' I say and he laughs.
'That was me.' Said Big Dude.
'Oh. Sorry, I didn't hear you.' I chuckle.
'You hang around with Ian coz I need to win some Hunger Deans!!!' Mitch says as he charges off and up the stairs.
'What you reading?' Ian asks as he sits next to me.
'Catching Fire. I'll get to the end of this chapter then I'll hang with you. It's getting to the good part.' I say.
'Sure thing Dood.' Ian says as he flicks on the TV.
Five minutes (I think) later and I shut the book. I stretch and Carrie hops down off the sofa and wanders away, the tingle of her bell fading away.
'What you watching?' I ask Ian.
'I have no idea lil Derp. Come on, let's go outside.' Ian says.
I gulp slightly at the thought. Even though Mitch explained what a storm is, I was still unsure of doing it, but I wanted to get outside anyways.
'GUYS! ME AND HART ARE GOING OUTSIDE! BE BACK LATER!' Ian yelled and Jason and Adam shout back.
After fumbling around with my coat, I manage to get it on and Ian takes me outside. The metallic clangs of metal sounded, making me guess an umbrella was put up.
'Ready?' Ian asks, taking my arm and joining it in his as we start to walk.
'Yeah,' I say as the rhythmic sounds of the rain hit the umbrella.
'Why are we going outside? It's a storm.' I point out.
'I always go out in storms. But the thunder and lightning have gone now, its only rain.' Ian says and I sigh slightly in relief.
Strong gusts of wind sent shivers down my spine, making me pull the coat tighter around me.
'Come on,' Ian grunted as sounds of metal sounded.
'what's wrong?' I ask.
'Damn it. Umbrella's busted. We can stand under here until it slows down.' Ian says as he guides me.
IAN'S POV
We stood under an alleyway with a sheltered part under to protect us from the rain. The wind blew the umbrella and now it's busted so I bin it quickly.
'How long will we stand here for?' Hart asks, Leaning against the wall.
'No idea. Hopefully not for too long though.' I say and look out at the weather.
It was pretty heavy for rain and small streams formed at the edge of the roads. I sigh and lean against the wall, shutting my eyes. Once the sigh had passed, I saw Hart walk slowly closer to the rain. Slowly, she extended her arm and let the ran fall onto her hand. She smiled slightly at the feel of the rain.
'You alright?' I ask her.
'Yeah.' She replies, focusing on the rain's feel on her hands.
'What are you doing?'
'When you are blind, you find different feelings that you like. I like water. It feels so nice and free.' She says, moving her hand around in the rain as the droplets fell from her hand.
Then, she shuts her eyes and leans forwards. The rain dripped off her face and she smiled and laughed slightly. Her hair got wet, but she didn't care. I watched her, thinking to myself. She then leaned back, shaking the rain from her hair. I smiled slightly.
'When can we go home?' Hart asks me, looking at me with electric eyes.
'Whenever you want.'
'Can we go home now? If you don't mind.' Hart said kindly, her voice as sweet as honey.
'Sure. Let's go.' I say and she holds out her hand for me to take to guide her.
As we walk home, the rain lightened up and my hair was dripping wet. The umbrella was useless so we held our coats above our heads. When we got home, we got hot drinks and sat down on the sofa, talking and joking around. Life was awesome, I wouldn't trade it for the world
