CHAPTER THREE:
i found myself randomly thinking about the grocery store boy. he was really cute with gorgeous hazel eyes and light brown hair...
i pushed the thoughts out of my mind. I had to get ready. Since the school year was already over, my dad wanted me to meet my teacher before the school year started in September. He scheduled a meeting with the principal of the private school i will be going to. i really wanted to go to a public school but my dad said it would be best for me to go to a private school. this would be my senior year, so my dad didn't want me to have a lot of stress and a private school would really help me choose the right college.
to be honest, i wasn't sure if i wanted to go to college. i feel like Connor and dad need me around, but my dad told me not to worry about things like that.
I looked through my closet, not seeing anything decent that i could wear. I already had most of my clothes unpacked, i didn't like all the clutter in my room. I ended up slipping on a brown and white striped, flowy, crop top with medium washed skinny jeans and my favorite brown boots. i grabbed a brown cross-body bag from one one of the boxes and slipped my phone, wallet, and keys inside.
"Aves, Con, c'mon! We have to be there in ten minutes!" My dad called down the hallway. I looked up and saw Connor in my doorway.
"What's up?" I asked him as I applied my mascara.
"I don't have anything to wear," he pouted. I slipped on a thin layer of pink lip gloss and followed him down the hall to his room. Unlike my room, there was packed boxes everywhere.
I sighed. "It might help if instead of you sitting around, you unpack some of your stuff." I started going through some of the boxes until I found what i was looking for.
i handed him a blue button up shirt with a collar and a pair of khaki pants. He frowned.
"what now?" i asked.
"I hate those clothes," he crossed his arms.
"But, Con, you have to look nice if you want the teachers to like you," i said, hanging the clothes that he didn't like into the closet.
"But, why can't i wear normal clothes?" he asked.
"Fine, but they can't be ratty and gross. You're the one who wanted my help." I pulled out a red polo shirt and a pair of dark washed jeans. "How about these?"
"Fine," he grumbled and started getting dressed.
"Hurry up, we have to leave in one minute," i said, looking the clock. i went downstairs and found my dad waiting on the couch. He looked up when he saw me coming.
"where's Connor?" he asked.
"He's just getting ready now," I replied. My dad stood up.
"Lemme go check on him," my dad said getting up. He went up to Connor's room and i heard Connor's grumpy voice talking to my dad in a louder tone than he should.
I brushed my fingers through my long, wavy, dark hair as I waited for them to come downstairs.
When they finally came downstairs a couple minutes later, Connor's short brown hair was gelled and stiff.
"Dad, I'll drive," I told him as I pulled my keys out of my bag.
"About that, you can drive the truck until your car comes, but only if you ask first." My dad replied.
"Okay, i can probably ride my bike to most places though," i shrugged and my dad nodded.
We headed out to the truck. There were three seats in the front so we all climbed in. The only reason we didn't all sit in the front for the ride there was because my dad wanted Connor and I to relax.
