CHAPTER 10:

I sprang up in bed to my alarm blaring next to me. I picked up my phone to shut it off and my reminder popped up: '1st Day of School!'.

I slid out of bed and took a quick shower to wake me up. It's going to be a little chilly today so I slip on a pair of dark, skinny jeans with a pink, lace tank and gold sandals. I brush my teeth and curl my dark hair. I check on Connor to make sure he is getting ready before grabbing my school bag and heading downstairs. I eat a light breakfast of a banana and a granola bar. After breakfast, I apply a light layer of makeup. Finally, I grab my house keys, phone, and lunch money and head across the street.

Connor's school starts an hour later than mine, so he is going to ride the school bus, but Brittany promised me that she would drive me. I was actually really nervous about what everyone would think of me.

When I got to Brittany's house, everyone was there already.

"Wow," I smiled. "You guys got here early.

"Oh, haven't you heard?" Naomi retorted, her perfect white teeth were in a fake smile plastered across her face. "We always have a sleepover the night before school starts to make sure we look perfect." I nodded in response, but in my head I was wondering why I wasn't invited to the sleepover.

I scan the girls' outfits for the day. Everything looks pretty expensive to me.

Brittany is wearing a white, tight, strapless, crop top that shows off her new belly button ring with a royal blue high low skirt, a skinny, gold belt, and matching gold sandals. She has her beautiful blonde hair in a french braid and her nails and toenails are perfectly manicured.

Taylor is wearing a black and white chevron dress with a low cut neckline and the hem is about mid-thigh. The dress has a red hem, neckline, and belt around the middle. Her normally curly hair is straightened and she has on black, Michael Kors flip flips. Her toenails and nails are painted a shiny red to match her dress.

Naomi is wearing a navy blue skater skirt that is tight at the waist. Her shirt is a white, cropped sweater and she has on a long necklace with a locket on the end. She is wearing silver sandals and her nails and toenails are painted in a crisp, perfect, french manicure. And her dark hair is pulled neatly into a sock bun at the top of her head.

Riley is wearing a cream tank top with thick ruffles and has a long, gold necklace with crystals on it. She has on dark, skinny jeans and light brown, Tory Burch ballet flats. Riley carries a cream and light brown, Michael Kors, zebra print handbag on her forearm. Riley's light brown hair is pulled out of her face by a light brown headband. Her nails are freshly painted in a pale pink.

Suddenly, I feel under dressed.

"Girls," Brittany said, startling me out of my outfit thoughts. "We should be going, can't be late. I have Mr. Troy for homeroom, totally hot!" The four girls squealed and simultaneously picked up their matching, studded backpacks from Pink. Each one was a different color, but same style.

Brittany's was bright pink. Naomi's was a turquoise blue and Taylor's was black. Riley's was a light, mint green. I looked at the brown, leather, tote bag that laid on my shoulder. I realized that I might not exactly fit in today.

"Wow, you guys look great!" I smiled.

"Thanks," Riley said. I immediatley noticed that she didn't compliment me back.

"Girls, let's just leave," Brittany said, becoming slightly annoyed. I followed behind the girls who walked in a straight beeline for Brittany's car. Riley slid her Michael Kors purse into her Pink backpack. We packed into Brittany's car, and I was squished into the middle in the backseat between Riley and Naomi.
