Chapter 11:
I'm really excited because tonight i was invited to sleepover at Riley's house. I haven't been to her house yet, and I'm excited to spend the night.
I haven't seen Nick since the first day of school, I've been hanging out with the girls. As much as Nick gives me butterflies, friends will last forever and I'm really excited that I'm fitting in with the girls.
It took me awhile to choose what to bring to make sure I looked just right for the girls, I didn't want them to judge me. I have to admit, my family is not as rich as the girls', but they are getting used to my cautious money spending and everything.
When I finally decided on a decent pair of pajamas and a cute outfit for tomorrow, I went into the bathroom to pack my makeup and toiletries. Once that was done, I kissed my dad good-bye and said good-bye to Connor.
In my white, high-waisted jean shorts and polka dot crop top, the walk to Riley's was a little chilly. I suddenly thought I should've listened to my dad when he said i should've dressed warmer, it was late September after all. I kept thinking that I should've brought a sweatshirt.
As I reached Riley's front steps, I realized I had forgotten to bring a bathing suit in case we went swimming. I shrugged and rung the doorbell. The door was answered by a woman who had a baby boy on her hip and a toddler running up behind her.
"Momma, who at ta door?" the little toddler asked.
The woman ignored him and stepped out of the way to let me into the house.
"Welcome, you must be Ava," the woman smiled. "I'm Ms. Sicilian, Riley's mother. Riley has told me a lot about you."
"All good I hope," I joked. Ms. Sicilian smiled and nodded. She led me through a small hallway lined with pictures of the family and children. At the end of the hallway, it widened into a large kitchen with breakfast nook. The girls were sitting at the table in the nook. The nook had a glass wall that overlooked the backyard.
From what I could see, the backyard had a deck and a large grassy hill leading down to a large dock overlooking the lake. I wasn't sure, but I thought I could make out a boat bobbing in the water next to the dock.
"Hey Ava!" Taylor stood up from her chair and waved me over. The only one who wasn't here yet was Brittney.
"Where's Britt?" I asked as I sat down and took a potato chip from the bowl.
"Her mom took her to the spa, she said she needed a facial because her pores were getting a little big. Talk about rude," Naomi gossiped. I nodded and took another chip.
"This dip is delicious," Taylor complimented.
"Thanks, it's from that really nice italian restaurant on Main Street, my dad always goes there," Riley explained.
The girls chatted about school, shopping, and a bunch of other stuff. I just ate chip after chip and listened politely. When the doorbell rang, I offered to go get it.
"Thank you," Ms. Sicilian said without looking away from the microwave where she was heating up a bottle.
When I opened the door, Brittany was standing there with a duffel bag around her shoulder. She was typing something on her phone but looked up when the door opened.
"Oh hey, Aves. Wasn't expecting to see you answer the door. Lisa must've fired another maid," Brittany shrugged.
"Lisa?" I asked confused.
"Riley's mom," Brittany stepped past me into the house and threw her bag next to a chair that was in the entryway. I followed Brittany down the hall after closing the front door. Brittany had already taken my seat at the table so I sat at the head of the table.
