CHAPTER FOUR:

Nick walked over, he was blushing like crazy. God, it looked so cute on him.

"Hi," he said and waved.

"It's nice to see you again," I giggled.

"Oh, you two have met before?" Miss Morgan asked.

Nick spoke up, " I met her this morning." He smiled. Even his smile was perfect. It was so perfect... Like the definition of perfection. "I can finish her tour up, if you want," he continued.

Miss Morgan smiled, "Thanks Nicky." Nick blushed and rolled his eyes. He grabbed my hand and we headed to the exit that was at the back of the hall.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.

"I wanna show you something," he replied. He lead me down another hallway and through a dim-lighted hallway until he pushed open a door that lead us outside. It was beautiful. The grass was bright and green with little flowers popping up all over. There were some picnic tables at the bottom where a man who looked like a janitor was sitting. There was a little creek by the edge that lead into the woods. "C'mon." He said and grabbed my hand. He pulled me into the woods, warning me for branches and fallen trees. It only took us a couple minutes to get where he wanted to be.

He lead me out of the forest and into a large, green, open meadow. He picked me up and held me over his shoulder so my head was dangling behind him. He ran to the middle of the large meadow and we laughed like crazy until he put me down. I sat down on the cool grass and he followed.

"So whyd you move here?" He asked casually.

"My mom," i said quietly.

"I know how that is. After my parents divorced, my moved us down here and we've been living with my aunt ever since," he explained.

"Miss Morgan?"

"Yup, the one and only. Whyd your mom want to come to a small town like this?" He asked as he began to brush the grass with his fingers.

"She didnt," i paused for a while. I took a deep breath, ive never said this out loud. "She died and so my dad wanted us to move."

"Oh, Ava im so sorry," he said, but i couldnt look at him. I just met this guy today and he knows about my mom dying. Im just spilling everything out to this boy i hardly know. Yet, somehow i once i start, i cant stop.

"Its okay. My family is coping... Sort of. It was just hard, ya know? Like, watching her for months just suffering. Until for a few days, she woke up from sleeping for only a few minutes and we all knew what was coming. It just happened so unexpectedly... I wasnt ready for goodbye," the last part came out sounding like i was a dying whale. The tears were starting to fill up my eyes and my vision was beginning to blur. But i shoved the thoughts about my mom aside and wiped my eyes with my back of my hands. When i looked up at Nick, he was looking at me with his big brown eyes. "So, what is this place," i changed the subject.

"I dont really know. My aunt used to take me and my cousin here in the weekends and we'd have picnics and fly kites and play games. She spends a lot of time at the school, shes pretty lonely. She hasnt been the same since my cousin went to Europe. He keeps in touch, but its hard, different times and they both are busy. One day she just stopped taking us here and i like to come here for the memories. Im not sure if other people even know about it." He then told me how his aunt is more like a mom to him, since his mom always worked late and got up early to work. I asked him about how his cousin was related to him, since Miss Morgan isnt married. "She had a boyfriend and they got engaged, but never married, they were young, not even twenty. She thought it was love but when she told him she was pregnant, he left. A year ago, his birth dad contacted him and said he wanted to meet him and my cousin, Derek, really wanted to see his father. His dad had gone to Europe for a business 6 months before Derek was supposed to meet him. His dad was later told he had to stay to work in Europe, but he still wanted to meet Derek. Derek agreed to see him and stay with him until he wanted to come back home. So far, everything is going great, he tells us, and its been over a year."

After getting over the sad stuff, we actually laughed a lot. And, i learned that Nick has an adorable laugh.

I laid down in the grass, staring up at the clouds. Nick laid down next to me. I could feel him looking at me, but i didnt want to look back. I could see the sun starting to set and sat up. I wasnt sure how long we had been laying there, or how long it had been since we'd left the school. I sat up quickly, and Nick, once again, followed.

"We should be getting back soon," he said, looking up at the sky.

"Yeah," i looked over at him. He inched closer to me and i stared into his eyes. He leaned in and i closed my eyes. Our lips touched softly and he held my face in his hands. We pulled away, slowly. He leaned in again, and i kissed back this time. I put my hand on his knee and he pulled me onto his lap. He put his hand on my waist. Every time he touched me, i felt bubbly inside. We pulled away and both stood up.

"Lets go back," he said quietly.
