CHAPTER 5:
When we got back to the school, it was time for us to go home. Nick quickly asked me for my number and we exchanged our numbers.
When we got back into the car, my dad turned to me. "So, you like that guy? What's his name?" he asked.
"Nick," I replied, blushing. Connor snorted next to me. I jammed my elbow into his side and he winced. "Shut up, Connor."
My dad ignored us. "He's a nice boy?" My dad said, but it was more like a question.
"Yeah, he's really sweet," I felt myself smiling.
"AVA AND NICK SITTING IN A TREE K-I-S-S-I-N-G," Connor sang next to me.
"Connor, shut your mouth," I hissed. He looked down at his lap. He mumbled something, but I couldn't hear what he said. I rolled my eyes and checked my phone... no messages.
When we got home I went upstairs. I only had a couple boxes left to unpack and I wanted to get it done.
"AVA," My dad yelled from downstairs.
"WHAT?" I replied. I heard him walk up the stairs and down the hall.
"Could you help Connor unpack his boxes and organize his room? You're better at that stuff than I am," My dad asked.
"Sure," I said, sliding the rest of my boxes under my bed.
"Also," he continued. "I'm ordering some food for dinner. Do you want Chinese or Italian?"
"Chinese, we had Italian yesterday," I told him as I got up to go into Connor's room. My dad nodded. "I'll have chicken and broccoli with white rice," I added, walking down the hall.
When I got to Connor's room, he was slumped on the floor in the middle of a circle of boxes. I sighed, this might take longer than I expected. "What should we start with?" I asked him. He looked around the room at all the boxes. He pointed to a pile right by the doorway. I looked into it, it was full of his T-shirts. "Okay. C'mon and help me get this stuff in the dresser. Hang up all the nice shirts into the closet, we have a box of hangars in the hallway. Oh, and make sure you fold everything nice," I explained. After watching him sloppily fold a couple shirts, I told him that I would fold everything and he should just hang everything else in the closet.
After about a half an hour, my phone vibrated from where I threw it on the bed. I looked up, but decided not to get it, I needed to help Connor.
Twenty minutes after that, my dad called us down because the food was here. We were only about 1/3 done with unpacking. I sighed, standing up and grabbing my phone off the bed. I checked my messages, I had two from Nick, my heart leaped out of my chest.
