I was laying in the tent next to Damion. Neither of us could sleep. "So, seriously, why?" I asked. "Huh? What?" He mumbled in reply. "Why'd you kiss her?" I asked. He smiled. "Just like I said. I wanted to see what you're so into, and what I was missing out on. Don't worry, dude. I'm not actually into her. Sure, she's hot, but she's your girlfriend, so I'll respect that from this point on."
"Alright." I thought for a little bit. "You're always doing impulsive shit, aren't you?" He looked over at me. "Hell yeah. I, uh, I started doing stuff like this after Ali died. I mean, people just sit there, days, months, even years not doing what they want. Hesitating, refraining themselves because they're afraid. And I think it just slowly drives them into a depressed state. I figure, if I do something dumb, if I get hurt, if I lose something, hell, even if I die, at least I went all out. At least I'll regret doing instead of not doing." He looked over at me. Plus, I never know when. . ." He looked at his hands. "It's just better for me to take a few risks than sit and do nothing." He finished. I nodded "Makes sense, I guess." I muttered. "C'mon, dude. You're not that mad, are you?" He said, questioning himself. "No. Just thinking." I replied. "'About what?" He asked. "Just a feeling I have." I said simply. "Hm. Mika mentioned something like that a few days ago." Damion said. "She said she just had a bad feeling that wouldn't stop bothering her. Same with you?" I nodded in reply. "Yeah." Damion sat up and started rummaging through his backpack. "What're you looking for?" I asked. "A flashlight." He replied. "Why?" I questioned. "Dunno. I can't sleep, and it's pitch black. The dark just isn't my thing, I guess." He replied, finding his flashlight and turning it on, dimming the light by holding his hand over the end of the flashlight. "Jeez, that's bright." I said, shielding my eyes until I adjusted to the light. "Yeah, sorry about that." He said. I sat up. "Didn't Mika unpack all of our backpacks?" I asked, slightly puzzled. "Yeah, but I asked her to leave the flashlights just in case." He replied. "Alright, then." I murmured, laying back down and trying to go to sleep. "Hey, Akio?" Damion said. "Yeah?" I asked. He sighed. "Life's a bitch." I laughed slightly. "Yeah, pretty much."
