'When you feel my heat, Look into my eyes

It's where my demons hide, It's where my demons hide

Don't get too close, It's dark inside

It's where my demons hide, It's where my demons hide'

Luke's p.o.v

A week. It's been exactly a week since i last saw Genna and i didn't know what i did wrong. She never turned up at the library anymore and when i went over to her school where Cal and Mike attended i would never see her, not even for a split second.

I debated on wether or not to go over to her house and see if she was alright. Something was telling me that i should never have walked away from her that night and it was killing me inside. Those bruises didn't look self inflicted and the way she talked about her dad only seemed to put more fear in her eyes.

So i decided that i was going to go and check on her, but obviously when her parents weren't going to be home from the way Nicole and Crystal seemed to keep their relationships a secret i could tell their parents did not approve of boyfriends.

So on Thursday after school i waited by the gates and caught up with Calum and Michael making small talk until their girlfriends arrived. It was them i needed to talk to.

"Hey Nicole. Crystal." I nodded, smiling at both girls.

"Hi Luke. Haven't seen you for a while." Crystal replied, before planting a kiss on Calum's lips.

"Yeah..uh..listen..h-how's Genna?" I stuttered, watching as both girls' eyebrows rose.

"Uh...she's o-kay...why?"

"It's just um...i met her last week and she seemed a little upset."

"Well yeah, i mean, i think she's just sick or something. I don't know whats up with her. She doesn't even want to come out of her room anymore." Nicole said, shrugging in Michaels arms both girls looking at each other sympathetically.

"I was wondering if i could maybe, go and see her?"

"Uh...why?" Calum asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Because i uh...i have a book that she wanted to read. I got it for her from the library." I lied, pulling open my backpack to reveal the book i was currently reading

"Dude since when did you read?" Michael chuckled. I ignored his irritating question and smiled at both girls, hopeful.

"Sure. I mean i guess. But you can only stay for like half an hour mum and dad will be home by four." Crystal stated, informing all of us boys.

"Yeah, great that's fine thanks."

I followed the girls to their house, acting as if i had never been before. The girls took the boys i to their rooms and pointed to the room at the end of the hall which i'm guessing was Genna's.

I took a deep breath in and nodded thrice. "Genna. It's me. It's Luke." I said. "I wanted to se-" but i was cut off when her door opened and she stood there staring at me wide eyed before pulling me roughly into her room and locking it behind her.

"What are you doing here?" She whisper yelled fear evident in her eyes.

"I...i came to see you. I wanted to see if your alright?" Her eyes softened when i spoke before she walked over to her bed and sat down, putting her head in her hands.

"Look into my eyes Luke. Does it look like i'm alright." She sobbed, dropping down onto the floor, pulling her knees up to her chest.

I sat down on the floor beside her, noticing the previous bruises on her wrists. She noticed me staring but this time didn't bother to cover them. I slowly brought her arm to rest on my lap and gently pulled up the sleeves to reveal numerous thick red scars along her arm.

I looked up at her and she dropped her gaze, looking down at the floor.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Life." She mumbled, wiping her nose with the sleeve of her other arm.

"Genna." I breathed, my fingers gently tracing along her arms.

"I can't take it anymore Luke. I don't want to be here. I don't want to live like this, not with any of them." She cried slowly pulling her arm back.

"You shouldn't do this to yourself." I whispered.

"I can't stop. I can't help it. It's all in here, they're all in here." She said, her finger poking the side of her head.

"In here. In my head. It's where my demons hide." She whispered.

"It's where my demons hide." She repeated.

I knew what i wanted to say but that would only end up making me a hypocrite. Instead i shuffled closer to her and gently pulled her towards me. She hesitated a little before wrapping her arms around me and burying her head in my chest, releasing all her emotions.

"I really thought something bad happened to you. I thought i scared you away." I chuckled, attempting to lighten the mood.

"I just don't want to be here anymore Luke. I can't do it." She sobbed.

"You can. You can fight this i know you can."

"You don't understand." She sniffled, bringing her head up to look at me.

"It's them. It's all of them too." She said, pointing to her bedroom door.

"I can't do this anymore. I can't do it alone." She cried.

"Your not alone." I whispered, taking her hand in mine and intertwining our fingers. "You have me." I tucked a loose piece of hair behind her ear and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

Pulling back we seemed to get lost in each others eyes. I leaned in to kiss her but she pushed me away, removing her hand from mine and backing up, hitting her head on the bedside table.

"Don't. Don't get too close to me." She warned, all the fear returning in her eyes.

"I-i'm sorry i'm not-"

"Leave. Please just leave." She begged, solemn tears falling from her eyes.

"I'm sorry." I whispered, realising i crossed the line. I stood up and dusted my jeans walking towards her door. Just before i pulled it open i turned around and pulled up the sleeves of my jacket.

"It's where my demons hide too." I said, raising a finger and pointing it to my head.
