They say it's what you make, I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul, I need to let you go
~~
It was exactly three days and fifteen hours later that Luke had seen Genna again, he wandered why she never turned up to school after he waited everyday for her by the gates and he wondered why she never turned up to the library anymore.
But today something was different, she did turn up to library. It was exactly 8:04pm when her small frame travelled through the hall, the silents sounds of her feet hitting the floor making her seem like a ghost, a lost soul simply wandering through the halls.
He was not expecting to see her there, but both surprise and relive crossed his face when his eyes met with her bloodshot ones. He was seated, waiting for her to take the open seat next to him which she denied, blinking multiple times as if trying to keep herself from crying. He furrowed his eyebrows at her, thinking the worst and only hoping her father had not hit her again.
"Are you okay?" He asked, standing up off his chair and looking her in the eyes. She shook her head no, keeping her gaze lowered on the floor as she could not brig herself to look into his eyes, knowing that she would find it more difficult.
"What's wrong? What happened? Did somebody hurt you?" All he did was bombard her with questions, solely worried about her safety, willing to step in for her in a heartbeat.
"I.....Luke i can't do this?" She croaked, sniffling and tucking a loose piece of hair behind her ear.
"Do what?"
"This...us...Luke...i.....we can't do this." She shook her head, taking a deep breath in and finally plucking up the courage to look up into his eyes, feeling her heart ache when he looked back at her.
"Wh-why what...what's wrong?"
"I just can't i'm sorry." She mumbled, as fresh tears began to escape her eyes.
"But...i...wh-, Genna i thought. You don't want to be with me?" He asked, the hurt evident on both his face and through his voice.
"Luke..i....." There were so many things she wanted to say, but she knew she couldn't she was already in too deep. She couldn't risk it all for him.
"I'm sorry." She repeated, as her voice came out as a weak sob.
"I don't understand." He furrowed his eyebrows, wondering about what may have happened to her in the past few days that made her feel this way."
"I have to go." She mumbled, weakly turning around, ready to walk away before he pulled her arm back gently, pleading for an explanation.
"Genna please...just tell me...what happened?"
"I need to go Luk-"
"Please." He begged, resting his forehead against hers, both of them closing their eyes and taking in each others scents.
"I can't." She squeaked out, feeling herself becoming weaker towards him the longer she stood with him.
"I need to go."
"Genna." He whispered, raising one hand and cupping her cheek, placing a soft lingering kiss upon her lips, immediately igniting something within her.
"Tell me what's wrong?" He opened his eyes to look back at her, observing every fine detail of her beauty.
"I need to let you go." Were the last words she said, before she removed his hand from her skin, took one last look at him.....and walked away.
~~~
She left him standing there, watching her walk away with the only thought in his mind being why she would possibly decide to leave him. But what he didn't know was that the only person in the way of them being together, was the one person Luke had just managed to rid off, the one person who was determined to get him back into her life.
And that one person was Diana.
~~~
"Did you do it?" She asked, a fierce eyebrow raised as she stared down at Genna, disgusted with the idea that Luke had chosen her instead.
She simply nodded, wiping away the few tears that had fallen and bringing her gaze to meet the evil eyes of the jealous girl stood before her.
"Good. Now i'm sure you've learnt a valuable lesson here. Luke is mine, and you can't have him because i mean after all....we wouldn't want daddy to find out would we?" Her sinister voice came out mockingly, proving the dominance that Diana had over Genna.
"Would we?" She repeated, taking one step closer and invading Genna's personal space. She shook her head no, fearful of the consequences if she were to get on Diana's bad side.
"Great, i'm glad were on the same page. Now get out of here, go home already." She spat, shoving past her and strutting away down the street, in the direction of the library where Genna had just came from, leaving the broken and lonely girl to walk home on her own, with nobody left to call hers.
As quickly as Luke had entered her life....he was gone.
