Chapter 6. Can We Keep Her?
•Arabella P.O.V•
I once had a bunny rabbit, it was so beautiful with its pure white fur and dark eyes. I named her Alice, because she reminded me of the bunny from Alice in wonderland.
Mom would always give me this hard, questioning look whenever she asked me if I cleaned Alice's cage, of course I didn't.
What I'm trying to say is, the look Everett is giving me resembles the one my mom gave me. Eyebrows furrowed, a look a confusion and authority on their faces.
"Why are you here?" I shoot back, copying his question. He growls, obliviously unpleased that I had just answered his question, with a question.
"You didn't answer my question." He drawls out, lowly. Sending shivers down my spine, and causing my bare toes to curl.
I let out a sigh, running a hand through my frizzy hair, all the while Everett stands there watching me intensely "I have low blood sugar, and low blood pressure." I answer, an uneasy feeling sprouting in my stomach.
I wasn't exactly lying to him, I mean I do have low blood sugar and low blood pressure, I just kind of left out the part where I have bad night terrors, causing me not to sleep because of my terrible past.
Not much
Your kidding, right?
Nope
I watch as Everett's shoulders slump in relief, he lets out a small shaky breath, like he was waiting for me to say something more serious.
"Can we keep her?" Xavier's little voice breaks through the silence. I let out a heart felt laugh at his innocent question, while a grin forms on Everett's lips.
I totally forgot about Xavier still being here, dang this kid is quiet for a four year old, kind of reminds me of----
Don't think about that! A voice inside my head snaps, its been two years and I haven't really talked about it.
Mom was always worrying about me, I told her I was fine or just tired and never once would she question it, she always believed that lie.
I look over at Xavier who rocks back and forth on the heels of his shoes. He's such a sweet kid, and that's probably gonna be a problem with forgetting Clay. Xavier is exactly like him, personality wise.
Xavier stands there with wide eyes as he awaits an answer to his question. I kneel down in front of him, making sure not to pull my IV out.
"I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other." I whisper for only him to hear. I watch as his grin grows wider on his innocent face.
I stand straight just as a woman comes in, she looked about mid thirty, maybe early forty. She was quite beautiful for her age.
She had brown wavy hair that she swept to the side, it just brushed past her shoulder. Her olive skin seemingly made her sky blue eyes pop.
She looks at Everett and Xavier, her gaze then flicks over to me. I watch as sympathy clouds her eyes when she see's the IV attached to me.
"Kids, are you bothering patients again?" Her question seemed harmless but the way Xavier sucked in a breath and Everett stood frozen.
Guess they have respect
They probably don't wanna be grounded
Before Everett or Xavier could protest and try to save themselves, I butt in, looking over at their mother with a soft smile.
