Chapter 17. Confessions
•Arabella P.O.V•
I sigh, running a hand through my hair, my mother sits in the chair next to my hospital bed, with tears in her eyes, some trailing down her face. Mr. Hilson just left after delivering the news.
"The night terrors are fine, their not effecting her, health wise. But on the other hand, the low blood pressure and sugar is. Them both are causing her body to grow dangerously weaker and weaker, if not treated, Her organs will start to shut down and her blood will thin."
"Some Doctors from out of the country have come to help prepare the treatment, we're very close. So Arabella, hold on."
Depressing right? Lets just hope it doesn't happen. I hope in my case, that I'll live, I mean, I would love to finish school and have a family. Not die at the age of sixteen.
I glance over at my mother to see how she's doing. Her body is hunched over and I can see her shoulders shake as she silently sobs to herself. I know for a fact that she doesn't like me seeing her like this.
"Ma?" I question, I keep my voice clear of emotion. I don't want her to see that I'm scared. I close my eyes, I don't really feel weak so that means something. If I keep myself healthy, I can get the treatment.
And then I'll be all better
"I'm going for a walk." I grunt out, and slowly slide off the bed, my bare feet hitting the chilled tiled floor. I grab the handle of the IV with my right hand and start my walk.
Mr. Hilson said before he left that, I should be fine, and that there's no real reason to worry. The treatment would be every month through an IV. After five to ten years, I'll be fully healthy.
I walk down the white hallways, rolling the IV alongside me, I smile to the nurses who walk by. I just needed to let my mom have a moment to herself. Mr. Hilson said that there's a 1% chance that I wont make it.
I continue walking until I find an elevator, I step inside and click the button five, taking me up. My stomach churns when the elevator stops and opens. I step out slowly and walk to the huge room for patients to just relax.
Relaxation room
I walk around the opened space room and sit down in the chair next to a wide sized window. I just stare out, taking in everything, taking in the beauty of nature. It all looks so peaceful, I fiddle with my fingers, still staring off.
"Its nice, isn't it?" A voice comes from behind me. I turn in my seat to see Everett's mother standing there, a small smile on her face. Dark circles underline her dull eyes.
She's exhausted
"Yes," I begin "Its nice to see you again Mrs. Blackwood." I chirp quietly, her brown hair is clipped back messily. Its looks like the life has been sucked out of her.
"Oh, Dear. Call me Sherry." She says, and slowly makes her way to the leather couch that leans against the wall.
I watch Dave walk in with Xavier on his back, both of them smiling. Dave turns and looks at me, causing his smile to drop into a frown. He never knew I was sick, I didn't want him to know, because if he did, he'd just be even more worried about me.
"Arabella?" Dave asks, sitting down next to his wife, Xavier gone to the small table in the corner to color.
Sherry looks over at Dave with a questioning look covering her face "You've met Arabella?" She asks, still confused, it was quite amusing.
