Chapter 9. Don't Be An Idiot.
•Arabella P.O.V•
Samuel Carsons, a loving husband, brother and a great father, now dead. Carsons was in search of his kidnapped daughter. After police caught the kidnapper, Steve Paul, he was sent away for life. Brother of Paul's, John Paul, was convicted with the murder of Carsons, only a week after reuniting him with his daughter.
I throw the newspaper back in my closet, a few stray tears slide down my cheeks as I try to clear my head. I shakily throw another sweatshirt in my suitcase, along with my other clothes.
I throw in the black t-shirt Everett gave me last week. I look on my bed and notice its not in its spot, panic starts to build up in my chest.
I stick my head out my bedroom door "Mom, have you seen Sammy?" I shout.
"You mean this old thing?" My mother says with a sigh, walking to my door. In her hands was the worn out, purple stuffed monkey my dad gave me when I was two.
I nod my head while grabbing the smallish stuffed animal and shoving it in the suitcase. My mother rolls her eyes at my antics but none the less says nothing.
"You sure you want to go?" She asks, she's been nervous from the moment I mentioned this camping trip.
No "Yes," I say, zipping up my suitcase, I look at the digital clock to see it just turned eight. "I should get going." I say, kissing my mom on the cheek.
"Call me when you get there." She shouts from behind me, right before I slammed the door and started walking to school.
I make it to the school within fifteen minutes, as I walk up to the front doors I see parents dropping off their kids with suitcases and bidding their goodbyes to one another.
A ridiculous smile plays on my face when I walk through the doors. I drop my suitcase in front of my locker quickly, opening my arms to a running Miranda. She gives me a quick, tight hug before pulling away.
There's a look of worry on her face that causes me to frown "Whats wro-" She cuts me off with one word. One name "Everett."
I follow her to the back of the school where there's a fight going on. I narrow my eyes and watch Everett throw a punch at Liam's face. Liam stumbles back, clutching his jaw.
"If I hear her name come out of your mouth, Ever again, All you will see is the pavement as I bash your face into it repeatedly." Everett's voice comes out dangerously low and his look, deadly.
I gulp, shaking a little "Everett?" My voice comes out in a whisper, so I'm surprised he heard it.
He turns to face me and I see blood dripping from his lip, there's a small cut nearing his right eye. I hear Miranda take in a deep breath. Everett's expression stays rock hard.
Without another word I swerve around and fast walk towards the school, away from him. Having friends is difficult. Am I doing something wrong?
I walk to the very back of the bus, two seats left empty behind Miranda who sits next to Hudson. Nathan sits across from them, the seat next to him empty.
I ignore them and sit down in the seat next to the window. Just staring out.
No, its not one of the yellow school buses, its those buses you get for long drives and can hold lots of students. A comfort bus.
I plop my neon yellow earphones in that are connected to my I-pod. I click play and resume listening to the song I was earlier.
Should I give up? Or should I just keep chasing pavements? Even if it leads nowhere? Oh, would it be a waste? Even if I knew my place? Should I leave it there? Should I give up? Or should I just keep on chasing pavements?
