Chapter 4 Nichole

I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. Hours had passed since the hallway incident. I cried until my cheeks were raw from wiping the tears away. I hadn't gone down for dinner and everyone went asleep hours ago. The clock's red numbers cast an eerie glow in the room. 3:30 am. I knew who I needed. It was the same person I loathed at the moment. Louis. Some small, quiet part of me screamed that I was wrong, but the calm, louder part of me willed me to stand up. I made my way through the dark hallway my fingers barely skimming the wall. I gently pushed open his door. He was sitting on the edge of his bed. His head was in his hands that were resting on his knees. His hair looked disheveled and in the light he looked older and beat down. I stood in the doorway. The will that had brought me this far had suddenly ran out. He slowly lifted his head and our eyes met. Mine started filling with tears and he opened his arms. Instantly I ran to him and buried my head in his chest. I missed him more than he could imagine. His grip on me tightened as I broke out in sobs again. He started rocking back and forth. "I'm sorry." I murmured. He shushed me and kissed the top of my head. "What are you doing up still?" He shrugged.

"Thinking about you and everything I did wrong." I coughed and looked him in the eyes.

"It's not your fault. It's my own." He shook his head.

"But I could've been here to take the pain away." I bent down and kissed his forehead.

"You're here now." I crawled up to my side of the bed and cuddled into his chest. I missed this bed. Not the actual bed, but the way it felt when we were both in it. The way it made me feel whole. I closed my eyes and tried to remember this feeling knowing that it wouldn't last forever. I closed my eyes wishing it could.

I slammed the door to my Audi A3. I couldn't believe that my dad actually bought it for me. The sun was shining, but it was still cold. I hate winter. Besides me and Louis' dates there was nothing for me to do in the winter. The snow always messed up my plans. I trotted up the rest of Louis' driveway. His mom and the other girl's cars were in the driveway. I rolled my eyes before I knocked. What made her so special? She wasn't even that pretty. She had nice hair, but so do I. Plus I have the body structure and face to pull it off. Ms. Tomlinson opened the door. Instantly her smile dimmed. "Is Louis here?" I asked stepping through the doorway. I didn't need to be invited in seeing as I was Louis girlfriend.

"Yes, but I think he's sleeping." I nodded and threw off my leather coat and tossed it on the counter.

"I'll just wake him up then. We have a lot of damage control to make up for. Most people believe he actually has a thing for that trash that lives here." I laughed. "I mean come on she's obviously his charity project." His mom smiled only it didn't seem like a nice smile. I ignored it and walked up the stairs. I had a whole day planned for us two. First we'll go to the mall and then to Nando's. The paparazzi are always there when the boys are in town. I just hope this time they get my good side. After lunch we'll go see a movie. Probably a romantic comedy, but who knows maybe a horror flick will get Louis in the mood finally. He always holds back from me like he doesn't have feelings for me or something. I passed his room heading towards the bathroom. I wanted to make sure I look better than that slut did yesterday.

I woke up to Louis tracing patterns on my exposed back. I turned around and smiled up at him. "I'm sorry for last night." He shook his head.

"There's nothing to be sorry for. You needed me just as much as I needed you." He smiled and it reached his eyes. I wanted to kiss him. I wanted to try again with Louis. I think my face gave it away because he started moving closer. Once our lips met I didn't want it to stop. His hot chest was pressed against my body and I could feel his muscles through my thin t-shirt. He kissed along my jaw line and I smiled. I really missed this. I brought his wandering lips back to mine and wrapped my legs around his waist just as the door opened. Her gasp was heard loud and clear. I pushed Louis off of me and scrambled to make myself look presentable. Whatever that would be in a situation like this. Louis looked bored sitting next to me like his girlfriend didn't just see him all over me.

"What are you doing?" Venom dropped off of each and every one of her syllables. "Why are you with him?" She was walking towards me. "Answer me!" She lost her calm demeanor and was starting to look crazy.

"I couldn't sleep." She shook her head and laughed.

"So naturally you hook up with every taken guy in England." I shook my head quickly not really sure why I was explaining myself to her.

"We didn't hook up we-" Louis sighed.

"What are you doing here Eleanor?" Hurt flashed across her face.

"I thought we could do damage control from yesterday." He nodded.

"Oh yeah. Yesterday. Isn't that the day I broke up with you?" She knocked a bottle off his dresser.

"You can't break up with me! I'm the girlfriend! You have to be with me not this piece of trash!" Louis' face hardened. He grabbed my hand under the blanket.

"Eleanor, you have two seconds to get out of my room and one minute to get out of my house. Don't you ever, disrespect Nic like that again." Eleanor's eyes turned into brown slits cutting through me.

"I'll make you pay." With that she left and slammed the bedroom door behind her. Louis stretched beside me.

"You broke up with her?" He nodded as if it were simple.

"I had more important people in my life and having a fake girlfriend was so last year." He did his best American accent and I smacked his chest smiling.

"Stop it moron." He wrapped me in a bear hug and started tickling my sides.

"I miss this." I nodded. The last few words jumped out of my mouth before I could catch them.

"Wanna try again?" His face lit up.
