"Hey girls, ten minutes." My mom tells us from the kitchen.

"I don't think she can hear you." Aunt Tandy says referring to Maddie who had he headphones in.

"No. She heard you." Daphne states grabbing her backpack off the counter.

"It's called selective listening. Harper has it too." Mom tells our aunt.

"Hey." I defend.

"I was texting Virginia about my homework." Maddie explains pulling out her earbuds and walking over to the counter. Yeah I'm sure. I roll my eyes.

"See I told you she could hear me."

"Aunt Tandy, Daddy's gonna win, right?" Maddie asks slinging her backpack over her shoulder.

"Absolutely." Aunt Tandy responds. Maddie and I follow Daphne out to the car.
--------
"Did you see Juliette Barnes's video?" Abby asks in first period from her seat next to mine.

"What video?" I question.

"This video." Dallas states shoving her phone in my direction. As I watch the video I see Juliette steal nail polish. Why would someone as rich as her steal something as cheap as nail polish?

"Hey Harper." A male voice says as they walk past me. I look up recognizing the voice and when I see him I get butterflies in my stomach. Landon. I've never felt this way about anyone. Sure I've had crushes but none as intense as this one. I don't even know him that well yet.

"Hi Landon." I reply almost choking on the words. Dallas and Abby both look at my with the same look. It's obvious I have some explaining to do. Landon sits down behind me and a few minutes later he taps my shoulder to hand me a crumpled piece of paper. Scribbled on the note was a phone number. I smile. The man of my dreams just gave me his number. I make a mental note to text him later but I know I won't forget.
-----------
'Hey Landon. It's Harper.' I text him after school.

'Hey. When are you going to show me around huh? I've been waiting for you to mention it.'

'Tomorrow? I'm always down for the Bluebird.'

'Sure. Pick you up at 6?'

'Perfect. See you then.'
----------
"Dallas get over now." I demand over the phone. It's the afternoon before I'm hanging out with Landon and I'm pretty much having a panic attack. Is this a date? What should I wear? Am I going to say something stupid? Probably.

"On my way." She replies before hanging up the phone. That's what I love about my friends. We just get each other. Most friends would ask you why they need to come over before actually leaving their house but we know it's important if the hangout was planned at least a few hours before.

About a half hour later there's a knock at the door and someone must have let Dallas in because she's in my room a few minutes later.

"What's up?" she asks. I throw her my phone with my messages with Landon open. She catches in no problem and reads the messages. "Why didn't you tell me as soon as this happened?" Dallas questions.

"I was a little distracted by the fact that the boy I've been crushing on for weeks wants to hangout."

"Alright first things first. What are you going to wear?"

"That's why I called you Dallas!" I exclaim.

"Right ok um let's see." Dallas paws through my closet finally choosing a floral strapless dress. "Definitely this one." I quickly strip and put on the dress not worrying about Dallas' presence because me and my friends change in front of each other all the time.
