I'm freaking out.

Veronica's knocked out in a puddle of her own blood. How could I have let this happen? I tie my red necktie around her head wound, a large gash on the side of her forehead, before I pick her up bridal style and start walking to the clinic; hopefully the nurse is still here.

McNamara walks up to me. "Do you need help? I can run to see if the nurse is here or not, and if she is you can meet her half way."

Slightly touched, I agree. "That would be great, Heather. Thank you."

Kurt, Ram, and Duke have all run off somewhere. I'm pretty sure they went outside, probably to Duke's jeep. Pussies.

I trudge down the main hall of the school. Veronica isn't particularly heavy, but carrying all of her dead weight isn't easy.

I look down at the girl in my arms with worry. The bleeding is slowing down. I look back up, holding back tears, and see the nurse with Heather, both running this way. However, the hall is very, very, long. I decide to set Veronica down here, in the middle of the hall.

I look up, and the nurse is still probably 15 seconds away. I quickly bend down to Ronnie's ear. Squeeing her hand tightly, I whisper, "Hang in there. I know you can do it."

The nurse finally arrives. She whips out a bag of medical supplies and starts going to work. Removing the soiled tie, she wipes the wound clean with an alcohol soaked rag. I see Veronica's face scrunch up, and have half a mind to punch the nurse in the throat.

The nurse puts some sort of sticky, synthetic stitches over the gash, holding it shut. She then tapes some gauze over the wound, catching any leaking blood. She wipes her brow and stands.

"I don't know how the hell she got this way, and I sure as hell don't want to. If it was intentionally done, I ask that you tell the principal." She begins cleaning up her supplies off of the floor. "She's not in critical condition, but-" she pulls out a flashlight, "I believe," she shines it into both of Veronica's eyes, "she has a concussion. Get to the ER, as soon as possible." She clicks off the flashlight and puts it in her pocket.

"No shit I'm taking her to the ER!" I half-shout at her. I pick up Veronica again, this time in more of a piggyback. "Thanks for the help, lady." I smile.

"Keep me posted, Heather." She responds.

I begin to walk to my car when McNamara jogs up beside me. "Hey, Heather?" She says shyly.

"Let me guess. Duke ditched you, and you need a ride?" I reply smugly.

"Uhhh... yes?" McNamara says, blushing.

"I can take you to the hospital. I'm not dropping you off on the way. Once Veronica is settled at the hospital, I can take you." I say. "Also, you'll owe me gas money." I smirk.

McNamara smiles. "Damn, I'm soooo lucky you're my only chance of getting home tonight," she says sarcastically. She opens the front door for me.

"And I'm so glad we get to be at the hospital together for who knows how long!" I respond even more sarcastically.

They've just taken Veronica back for a few tests. I'm sitting anxiously in the lobby with Mr and Mrs Sawyer. I've already explained to them what happened, and they are both furious. Mr Sawyer currently has some higher-up school personnel on the phone. I can tell he's trying not to lose his temper as he paces the lobby.

I wait, tapping my foot in worry. I hope she's okay.
