The secret to getting anything you want is confidence; act like you belong.

I stroll into the lobby of the hospital. It reeks of depression and broken hearts. The white walls, floors, furniture, and scrubs had me halfway to blind before I make it to the security desk.

I stand up straight and flashed the man who was sitting down my badge. "Officer Winchester. I'm here for a Ms Veronica Sawyer?"

He studies my badge before scribbling down a floor and room number on a sticky note. He hands it to me and I nod in appreciation.

Entering the elevator, I hit the button for the fourth floor; where Veronica is. The doors open and I step into an empty hallway. The only sound is the faint beeping of a few heart monitors.

There's another desk, but nobody's there. I glance around, but there are no staff in sight. I cautiously walk down the hallway, keeping an eye out for Veronica's room.
I spot it at the end of the hall and begin walking faster towards it. I reach for the doorknob before I hear a voice behind me.

"And just who do you think you are?"

I turn around with a fake smile plastered to my face to hide my annoyance. I show the woman, a nurse, my badge. "I'm Officer Winchester. I need to make Ms Sawyer down to the station for questioning,"

"What sort of questioning?" She asks, her voice dripping with suspicion.

"It's about the fight she was in that landed her in here," I say, tucking the badge back into my pocket. "We need a few details cleared up."

The nurse finally gives in. "Ok, fine, but you're going to have to fill out some paperwork."

I smile, for real this time. Stupid bitch, no real cop would take a concussed girl out of the hospital. "Of course. Lead the way."

The next 10 minutes or so is me forging signatures. As I finish the papers, I ask the nurse, "Do you think you could sedate her? I've been told that she's claustrophobic and gets car sick, so the ride in my squad car could be a little troublesome."

"Oh, sure, but you need to sign another paper." She says, as she begins digging around inside of her desk.

I smirk. This is the dumbest bitch I've ever seen. I sign the final paper and we head back to Veronica's room. The nurse hooks up a syringe to the IV and slowly injects what I can only assume is the sedative. The nurse finishes and leaves the room to get a wheelchair.

Finally, I have her.

A few minutes later and she's in the back of my car. The squad car was a lie. I drive a few minutes to a construction site. There isn't anybody currently there, so it's the perfect place for a pit stop.

I get out and head around to the back seat. Veronica's just about awake, but she's still high as fuck. I quickly snap some fuzzy handcuffs around her wrists and behind her back. I slip a sleep mask over her eyes. Everything is going according to plan. Getting back into the front seat, I make sure that both the doors and windows are locked.

I pull out of the construction site and from there it's only a few minute drive home. I leave Veronica in the car as I head inside to scope it out. I think my dad is at work, so we're good for a few more hours.

I carry Veronica, who's now sober enough to speak a little, to the basement. Over the years, I've converted the basement into an apartment, complete with a kitchenette, bathroom, and a bedroom with a walk-in closet.

I set Veronica on the floor of the closet, where she slumps against the wall. "Holy shit, I'm blind!" She says, her words slurring. I only chuckle as I tie the handcuffs to a bar attached to the wall. The rope I use is just long enough so she can't reach the door.

Exiting the closet, I lock the door behind me. As an extra precaution, I stick a chair under the doorknob.

She's finally mine.
