I stare at the ceiling all night and when the sun makes its reappearance, I climb out of bed to take a much-needed shower. I wash the extensive makeup from my face and comb the tangles from my hair, pink strands falling to the floor. I watch as the strands wash down the drain and realize that the pink hair was what got me into knowing Luca was in charge of the Three Princes. I wipe my hands on a towel and grab my phone to send a quick text to Flower. I have just finished my shower when I hear a knock on my door.
"Coming!" I wrap myself in a towel and open the door, expecting Flower, but Dylan stood in her place, holding the dye I had asked for.
Dylan looks down at the towel and smirks, "I kind of like this sight." I frown, not in the mood for his flirtations.
"Thanks for the dye," I take it from his hand and slam the door in his face. I return to the bathroom and redo my hair color for the second time in the last few days. I had previously been blonde, which was how the dye in the smoothie was able to get into my hair, but I had chosen a chocolate brown. Something nondescript, allowing me to blend in, rather than stand out. I jump back in the shower to wash the dye out and blow dry my hair into soft waves. My blue eyes pop more than before and I nod in acceptance. I choose black leggings and a large red t-shirt, placing fuzzy boots on. I place fake glasses on my face to hide my eyes and gather my purse and phone, ready to spend a day away from Ace. No one is in the room when I exit and I sneak into the hallway, blending into the other groups of agents as I make my way to the Garage.
I reach the Garage and choose a small, white car, grabbing the keys and as I'm just about to pull out of the parking space when someone leans in the passenger side window.
"Where are you going?" Dylan asks, a serious look on his face.
"Out," I answer and try to pull from the space. Dylan reaches through the window and places a hand over mine on the gear-shift.
"Bella," his eyes scour my face. "Can I come?" I nod without meeting his eyes, and he climbs in. I pull away from the Garage and Dylan directs me to a nearby town. I park in a small lot, and we get out and begin to wander down main street. I pause when I see fresh fudge in the window of a sweets shop, and Dylan pushes me in.
"Could I have plain chocolate please?" I ask and the kindly old man nods and smiles at us. Dylan orders the same and I pay for the both of ours at the counter.
"You two look adorable together," he says and I smile in return, not wanting to burst his bubble. He hands us our fudge and we sit at a small table outside the shop.
"He got you to smile," Dylan says munching on fudge. "I hope this means you're feeling better." I feel my frown returning to my face, as I eat my own fudge in silence. Dylan looks at me worried as we sit silently. I avoid his gaze, watching people walk by. A couple stores over from the sweets shop, I see a small child looking around frantically. I watch him for a moment, until I see tears begin to fall. My fudge forgotten, I rush over to the child and bend down to his level.
"I know you aren't supposed to talk to strangers," I start, "but what is wrong?"
He sniffles and looks at me with wet eyes, "I can't find my dad. I saw the bike in this window," he points behind him, "and I rushed away from him and I don't know where he is!"
"I will help you find him," I say and he grins at me, his tears drying up.
"Really?" he asks, and I nod, placing my hand around his. Dylan is nowhere to be found and I nearly roll my eyes. "My name is Isabella, by the way."
"I'm Aiden," he says and I stiffen at the name, before relaxing, reminding myself that it's a common name. We walk up and down the street, looking into stores, but we kept coming up emptyhanded. Aiden looks more and more upset with every place we don't find his dad in, and I am getting worried as well. We reach an old bookstore, the final store for us to check, and we enter.
