Chapter Fifteen
Everything was happening so fast and we were clearly out numbered. I called for backup, as I took out my gun and started to load it up. I sneaked out of the side of the house, I couldn’t believe there were so many of them, I knew there was no way I would be able to take all of them down on my own, I thought to myself. I kept my back up against the wall, and walked along the side of the building. Managing to take a few of the easier targets out, I carried on. As I looked around the corner, I watched as they took two of our men out. I knew if I fired at one of them now, that I would be giving myself away and seeing only a hand full of our men left I knew it was not an option.
Just as I was trying to contact headquarters to find out how much longer before back up would be here, I heard gunfire coming from inside the house. Running back into the house two men open fired on me, one of the bullets hit me in the shoulder. Putting pressure onto my shoulder, I fired back at them successfully taking them down. I kept running, as I desperately needed to make sure Sheena was all right. However, as I entered the house I saw that the door to where she was hiding was wide opened. I began to panic as I seen the lock had been blown off. My blood ran cold as I started to scan the room for her; it was just a little landing with stairs leading down to the basement. Running down the stairs making, sure I kept my guard up all the time I could not see her.
My heart was beating so fast and the loud thumping beat of my heart was echoing in my eardrums, blocking out any other noises. Up ahead I seen what looked like a tunnel, making my down it I heard a loud scream. Fear for Sheena’s life shot through me, feeling the adrenalin taking over my body I ran through the tunnel. I came to a dead end; I started to hit at all the walls, knowing they had to be a way out of here. I stamped my foot hard onto the floor with frustration; my foot went straight through the ground showing me my exit. I heard an engine roar to life, as I kept pushing my body faster and faster.
There was a boat just out side what looked like some sort of cave, I noticed there were men already on it. Taking a good look around I noticed two men had hold of Sheena, I screamed out as I saw one of the men holding a wooden batten in his hand in the air, before he swung it down right on to Sheena’s head. I watched her body go limp in slow motion; I froze for only a split second before I ran after them. I fired at the men on the boat taking one of them down, making the others to open fire on me. I took cover behind a rock watching as the older man threw her into the boat like a sack of potatoes. I wanted to kill him; I began firing at the man taking him down.
I felt someone coming up behind I swung round ready to open fire when I noticed it was my back up. We wasted no time as we open fired on the men. Knowing I was not alone anymore, I pushed forward. As soon as I knew, it was safe I leaped into the boat landing right on top of the man that had hold of Sheena.
I put my gun to his head, my anger was boiling seeing Sheena out cold on the floor, and I pulled the trigger. The man was screaming out as I shot him, nevertheless I made sure not to kill him, as I knew that was too easy for him. I wanted him to suffer. I took a quick look at Sheena’s head before picking her up and making my way back into the house.
As we reached the front room, I could hear Lee-screaming abuse at everyone. I shouted out to him, he came running into the room, and as soon as he seen us he started screaming for the paramedics. Behind him stood a hysterical Cherelle, I could not believe that he had actually brought her here. Looking at him confused, he just gave me a look making me shut my mouth. I left go of my shoulder as one of the paramedic started to clean it up, I knew Sheena was going to be all right health wise, however I was scared that this time was going to finish her mentally.
I sat on the sofa looking at Sheena, I wish I could just take her away from here and start a new life somewhere else, I thought to myself as they placed her onto the gurney. I followed her out to the ambulance and sat besides her, holding onto her hand.
Three months later
Living with Cherelle was great, although it did upset Damon, as he wanted me to move in with him. Don’t get me wrong I love Damon more than anything, but I just was not ready. As I still was not coping to well with everything, and knowing I could not hide it from Damon, I thought it would be best if I stayed with Cherelle. I have been seeing a specialist but I cannot seem to snap out of this depression. As some days, I feel like I want to kill myself, and then other days I am fine.
However, today is the day of my dad’s sentencing and my dad’s solicitor wants to talk with me. I am hoping that after today, that I will be able to get on with my life, a life that wont be me living on the streets but an actual normal life.
I was sitting on the sofa waiting for Damon to pick me up, as Damon has promised me that he would come with me today. I was feeling so nervous as I have never been in a courtroom, and knowing I was going to see my dad made me feel sick and angry. Nevertheless, what seemed to worry me more was the fact of seeing the solicitor, as I had no clue what he wanted? But knowing I would have Damon by my side helped. As I knew in my heart, that Damon would always be there for me no matter what!
