ice cream||finn

maddison and her boyfriend of one month, finn, had never been on an official date before. they've been friends for years, but since they started dating all she's been waiting for is their first date.

luckily for maddison though, finn finally asked her to go get ice cream at their favorite ice cream parlor.
"hey maddie," he trailed off as the commercial on tv faded into background noise.
"yeah?" she said, noticing his nervousness.
"would you wanna, um, uh, would you want to-"
"spit it out!" you laughed, trying to help him finish his sentence.
"would you want to go get ice cream with me?"
"uh, duh!! we do that all the time!"
"no, i mean like as a date."
"finn, i'd love to."

later that night it was time to head downtown. it was a five minute walk and he held her hand the whole time. the door opened and sent out a ring. there were mostly families eating together, lots of people crowded in one area.
"getting the usual?" he asked as he looked over the flavors.
"yep, chocolate and vanilla swirl in a waffle cone! what'cha getting?"
"same,"
finn placed the orders and the girl behind the counter went straight to work.
"that will be six dollars and fifty cents." she smiled. maddie reached for her money, but finn got his more quickly. she gave him the "really," look and he wrapped his arm around her.
"i took you on this date, i'm paying." he said.
"you're lucky you're cute, wolfhard." the girl handed their ice creams over and they both thanked her. finn had the idea to sit outside, maddie agreed.

"can you take a picture of me? i need one for my instagram!" she asked finn.
"you girls and your weird pictures," he smiled and he took out his phone. you smiled with your ice cream and he snapped a few.
"lemme see!" maddie scooted closer to him as he swiped through. "that'll do," she wrapped finn in a hug and he hugged her back. maddie wasn't paying much attention to her ice cream because as she pulled away she dropped the entire thing.
"damn," she laughed at herself.
"at least we've got the picture!" finn laughed. they agreed on sharing his ice cream, but maddie didn't care about that. she was just happy her first date went well and was with the perfect person.
