a/n: this is for abby, @-qtlosers!! i hope you enjoy and thanks for the request :)

abby and jaeden have been neighbors for their entire lives, or at least they don't remember not being near each other. at five years old abby wanted to play candy land with jaeden all day. at ten years old abby kissed jaeden on the cheek. he wiped it off and ran away. at age thirteen, abby's current age, she wanted to be his girlfriend. she's always liked jaeden, but he's only seen her as the girl next door who just so happens to be in love with him.

abby saw jaeden sitting by his window as she looked through her's. she opened it and yelled his name to get his attention. his eyes looked up from his phone and he smiled. she motioned for him to come over and he nodded, then raced to abby's front door.

"don't i look so good in this shirt abby?" he smirked at her as he took off his sweatshirt, revealing a plain, white shirt. her cheeks burned, she hoped he couldn't see it.
"that blush really matches this sweatshirt, don't you think?" he added as he sat next to her.
"i think it goes better with this one," she pointed to a sweater that was hanging up in her closet.
"don't you wanna wear my sweatshirt?" he teased her. jaeden didn't realize that with every snide remark about abby's crush on him, abby was closer and closer to bursting into tears.
"i have my own, thank you." she blatantly said.
"and look at this hair! so perfect, right?" he fixed the hairs that flopped over as abby turned away. she didn't answer because if she did she knew she'd cry. abby wasn't going to give jaeden the satisfaction that he got to her. at this point she didn't know why she liked him if he kept teasing her.

"do you even like me anymore?" he turned her around. jaeden's eyes went wide when he noticed abby's were welling up.
"yeah, i do. i wish i didn't." she shook her head.
"are you gonna, um, cry?" he asked awkwardly.
"you don't usually ask someone if they're going to cry, jaeden."
"did i make you want to cry?" he asked, his eyebrows knitted together.
"no, i was thinking about something sad i saw on youtube.."
"c'mon abby, i know you better than that." he grabbed her hand, shocking her.
"seriously, jaeden? this is why i can't stand liking you! you get all emotional and lead me on by making me think you'll maybe like me back, but the teasing makes me feel so stupid. i wish i only liked you as a friend and i wish you never knew i had a crush on you." she took her hand away and stood up, walking towards the bathroom.
"abby, wait." he stood up and caught her arm.
     "what?"
"you know i only tease you because i like you too, right?"
"you're just saying that. just go home." she turned around again. jaeden grabbed her shoulders and turned her around again.
"you've liked me since we were five. i guess i never got over the cooties until recently. i'm sorry okay?"
"jaeden wesley lieberher, if you're lying just to make me feel better i'm never speaking to you again."
"if i were lying would i do this?"
     "do wha-"
jaeden quickly pecked her lips.
"nope, you're definitely telling the truth." abby blushed.
