"y/n, is finn coming?" y/f (your friend) asked.
"no, i'm pretty sure he's stuck in canada because of the weather down here." you frowned. you flattened your dress and looked at your five friends who were getting ready for the dance. tonight was homecoming and your boyfriend wasn't able to make it. none of your friends had dates, but you knew it wouldn't be the same without him.
"let's call him! it'll be like he's right here!" y/f added. her face beamed with excitement at her own idea.
"okay, i don't want to bother him if he's busy.."
"give me your phone," she grabbed it and clicked on his contact. the facetime rang until "calling" changed to "connecting". his brother's, nick's, face appeared on the screen.
"y/n! what's happening!" he smiled.
"nick, my buddy! i'd love to chat and trust me we will, but where is your lovely little brother?"
"he's getting dressed, why?"
"oh, nothing. i just wanted to say hi and tell him we're going to homecoming."
"OHH RIGHT! he mentioned that. sorry he couldn't be there, that must suck."
"yeah, maybe just a little bit." nick chuckled. "well, i'll see you around. just tell him to text me or something when he can."
"alright, see you soon!"
"wha-"
call ended
"sorry, y/n. let's go have fun okay?" another friend smiled. the six of you continued doing hair and makeup.an hour had past and finn still hadn't texted you. you tried to shrug it off, you thought he forgot.
"girls! something's here for you!" your mom called from downstairs.
"probably the pizza," someone added as you all walked downstairs. your mom stood with her camera because you were going to take pictures together. she opened the door, a boy with his back turned stood in the doorway. you recognized him immediately, the curls gave it away.
"finn!" you yelled as he walked inside, arms opened for a hug. you hugged him tightly, trying to fathom why he was here.
"surprise!"
"i thought you were in canada!"
"i was yesterday, now i'm here."
"one moment," you pulled finn back outside. the october air was chilly, you shivered as you stood on the front porch. "you came all this way for me?" you aw-ed.
"yeah, i didn't want to miss your, i mean, our first homecoming."
"you are the best boyfriend i will ever have,"
"and the only!" he snickered. i rolled my eyes and laughed.
"ready to take some pictures?" i asked.
"yes ma'am!" he went to open the door.
"finn?" he turned around. "thank you. this means a lot to me."
"i wouldn't miss this for the world." he grabbed your hand and led both of you back inside.that night was one of your favorites. surrounded by your best friends and boyfriend, the amount of happiness you had was immeasurable.
