I saw Harry sitting at a table eating lunch with a few friends and walked by without making eye contact, sitting next to Sophie.
“Hey, babe.” She said cheerfully. “How was your morning?”
“Fine.” I replied.
“Ooh.” She frowned. “Doesn’t seem too fine. Who pissed you off?”
“Harry.” I said and she shrugged, not looking surprised at all. “And Adam.
“Adam?” She questioned.
“I think he’s hiding something from me.” I told her.
“Adam hiding something.” She repeated in disbelief. “Adam doesn’t exactly seem like the type to hide something from his girlfriend.”
“That’s exactly what I thought until I saw him talking to Harry.” I said, pushing the food in front of me back and forth with my fork.
“Maybe he was telling him to stay the hell away from you.” She said and I raised my eyebrows, knowing that was far from what they were talking about. “Well you never know, Harry’s been all over you the past little bit. The minute he sees you he can barely keep his eyes off you.”
“I’m sure Harry hates me most of the time.” I said. “And besides, I heard what they were talking about and it seemed like they knew each other before Harry moved-”
“Hey,” a voice said and I felt lips press to my cheek as the person sat next to me.
“Hi, Adam.” I said with a smile. “Feeling better?”
“Much,” he said and I didn’t know if I was just paranoid and over thinking everything, or he was actually lying to me. And if he was, he was better at keeping the secret away than others would be.
“See? He’s looking again.” Sophie said and nudged her head to the side, where I looked to see Harry looking at Adam and I.
I turned away.
“So do you know Harry or something?” She asked Adam and I shot her a glare. “You were never friends or something? He doesn’t seem to be very... fond of you.”
He laughed slightly. “I don’t know him and we’ve never been friends and I don’t think we ever will be.”
“Why?” She continued and I shook my head. She’d give something away.
“He’s an asshole.”
“I thought you said you didn’t know him.”
“Well I don’t, but-”
“Then how would you know?”
“Sophie.” I said and she stopped talking.
“I’m just wondering.” She shrugged and I looked to Adam to see he was staring at the two of us, not quite knowing what was going on.
“Is there something I should be catching onto?” He chuckled and I shook my head.
“No, Sophie just seems to be extra curious today.”
“Well I just like to figure things out.” She said and I sighed. “So do you want to hang out after school today? I wanted to talk to you about something.”
“Sure,” I agreed, knowing that all she’d be wanting to know is why I wasn’t asking Adam anything.
And it was only because I didn’t even know why he was talking to Harry or if anything was even happening. He could’ve just been threatening Liam because he wouldn’t stay away from me.
