When Carmilla and Laura both feel like playing games, but one partner doesn't like the game the other suggests they end up having a small argument. Thus our favourite power couple comes up with a compromise.

[A/N: this one might be a bit short, I'll try to make it up with adorable fun times and a much longer one next time ;)]

"I'm dating a child." Carmilla huffed. It was a Saturday and Laura felt like having a fun afternoon filled with fun games.

"Okay, first of all I am NOT a child. Second of all, hide and seek isn't childish! Chess is stupid anyway..." Laura pouts as she folds her arms in front of her chest, actions of which wasn't helping her case.

Laura likes hide and seek.

Carmilla likes chess.

Laura doesn't like chess.

Carmilla is too much of a brooding vampire to admit that she wouldn't mind playing hide and seek.

"Okay fine, you're not a child. That doesn't take away anything from the fact that I refuse to play hide and seek...and yes I'll still refuse no matter how large your puppy eyes get." Carmilla rolled her eyes at her girlfriend's actions and picked up the book that was sitting on the coffee table.

Laura's eyes widened in alarm and immediately leaped to take the book out of Carmilla's hands. "Nope, no, nuh-uh! You are not going to start reading and ignore me! Carm, I just want to have a nice, fun day at home with you playing a game. It doesn't matter if it's stupid, just please make an effort?" Laura pleaded, her head now resting on her girlfriend's stomach and pouting up at her.

Carmilla sighed deeply and her expression of annoyance softened. "Alright, alright, fine. I'll play hide and seek with you." Carmilla relented, only to soon crease her eyebrows in confusion at Laura shaking her head.  "Carm we don't have to play hide and seek, if you want to play chess we can play chess."

Carmilla smiled gently at the blonde, but also shook her head. "Cutie, you hate chess. Come on, I'll be happy to play hide and seek with you." Laura grinned in response, but still shook her head. "But you hate hide and seek, and I only hate chess because I'm not good at it, you can just teach me!" Laura suggested, trying hard to settle the decision.

Carmilla was steadily getting annoyed at the back and forth.  "Laura, let's just play hide and seek." She said as seriously as anyone can when talking about hide and seek.

Laura scrunched up her face, causing Carmilla to stifle a chuckle and a, 'that bunched up face you make when you're angry is hilarious buttercup.'

"Carmilla Karnstein, we are going to play chess so that you won't brood all day!" Laura huffed, sitting up on the floor and folding her arms in front of her chest. Carmilla was torn between being amused and frustrated at the tiny gay.

She ended up going with frustrated.

The two had a stupid eye contact stand off over which game to play until Laura's lightbulb look crossed her features.

Carmilla rose an eyebrow and cautiously stepped back an inch or two in order to distance herself from what she was sure was yet another devious Hollis plan. "What are you thinking about over there? Now is not the time to tie me to a chair again."

Laura blushed slightly as she grinned. "Nope, no tying you to anything today. I just have an idea as to how to solve this argument!"

Carmilla let her arms fall to her sides and felt her body relax. "And this solution is?"

------------------------------

Lafontaine stood at the doorway of the Karnstein-Hollis household with their new synthetic eye in hand while wearing an eyepatch. In their true Laf fashion, they went ahead and let themself in the house. (Laura thinks the idea of locking the doors while they're still home is ridiculous.)

"Frosh!? L!? Carmilla!?" They call when they fine no one around at first. They walk into the living room, expecting to find Carmilla splayed upon the couch with her nose stuck in a book.

They don't find that. What they do find is a table with a game of chess on it, a bell situated next to the board game.

Suddenly, Laura comes charging into the room and quickly moves a chess piece, then slams on the bell and runs away. Laf watches her actions with a puzzled expression. "What the fuck is she doing?"

A minute later Carmilla stalks up to the chess board and moves a piece, then tings the bell and walks away looking for Laura. Once again, Laf watches on, confused as to what the couple are doing and how neither of them have noticed them standing there.

Laf makes themself comfortable on the living room couch as they continue to observe the unusual game take place.

-----------------------

The game continues for another 10 minutes. 10 minutes of which neither Carmilla or Laura notice Laf's presence.

It isn't until Laura captures Carmilla's king and starts slamming on the bell that Laf is finally acknowledged.

"CHECKMATE! I GOT YOUR KING- Oh. LAF'S HERE!" Laura screams, grinning when Carmilla strides into the room. "I let you win that time, Cupcake." She claims, throwing an arm around Laura's shoulder.

Laura giggles and kisses Carmilla on the cheek. "I'm sure you did Carm, now let's find out why Laf barged into our house again."

[A/N: Apologise for this being both so late and so short, but I'll try to make up for it next time. Thanks for reading!]
