Chapter 14 - Unexpected Invitation (part 1)

A/N : Soo, I've been busy reading a lot of fanfics and school has started again~ And, the reason why I updated the previous 2 chapters faster than usual is because I was in a holiday. I think I will update this story once a month. I can't really promise that though, but I hope you still enjoy this story!

A week had passed since that festival day. During that week, I felt there was a change in my life in this new world. The change I was referring to was that Kei had been acting weird. No, it wasn't that he acted crazily or something like that. It was just... he was unusual.

I mean, look. Before, he was a rude and cold kind of guy. He always treated me like I was a hindrance in his life and pushed me away when I wanted to get closer to him even for only a little bit. But now, I could feel chills run down my spine when he suddenly treats me nicely. Not all the time, but sometimes he can be a gentleman.

I will give you some examples of how he changed.

One, he helped me bring the thick books Nicho gave me as a punishment. Two, he let me watch him making a magic staff while sitting next to him. Three, he made me a drink whenever I felt exhausted...

And, his kind treatment which surprised me the most... it was when he patted my head when I brought him the magic materials he left in his room.

There were still other changes which made him different from before, but I wouldn't tell all of them because I didn't really want to remember all those things.

Well, he still has that cold and annoying face, but... he somehow became gentler to me.

Those peculiarities made me wonder though. Is he under a magic? Perhaps there is a magic which can change people's behavior? Yeah, maybe that.

Until this time, I couldn't believe about the sudden change in his personality. It was as though he was another people.

Alright, let's set aside that for now. Other than speaking of his strange behavior, I'd like to tell about his magic staff which his father gave me on that festival day. Kei finally accepted the magic staff, but never once he touched it again since the time I gave it to him. He just let it be abandoned in their workplace.

I wonder why he doesn't want to touch or maybe use it... It looks cool for me.

Well, then. Now, I want to talk about Nicho. As always, he was back to his usual busy job. He hasn't taught me how to protect myself from magic and he said he would look at his schedule first before teaching me, which he would get spare time two days from now.

Nicho didn't change at all. He always teased me and being a sadist. But then, I noticed that he didn't really like Kei. I remember that one time, when it was a dinner for the four of us. Kei was sitting across from me and noticed that I had a cream on the corner of my lips. Seeing that, he leaned closer to me while taking a tissue to wipe the cream. Nicho, who witnessed that, quickly pulled my wrist to get me closer to him, so Kei didn't have a chance to wipe the cream away from my lips. Nicho gave him an intimidating glare and wiped the cream on my lips with his index finger. He then licked it with his tongue while looking at me teasingly, making a tint of red color appear on my cheeks.

After that happened, somehow I could feel a competitive aura coming from Kei then Nicho, while Kayla and I was in the background of the dark atmosphere occurred in that room. Kayla only laughed at that as though it was an interesting show, and I didn't know what to do since I couldn't help but wonder if I was involved in that situation or not.

And those things definitely made me tired.

Back to the current time, I was in my room while being accompanied by a stack of thick books on my desk. I let out a sigh for countless times, thinking when will Nicho give me freedom from reading these thick books.
