Sam and Cecilia talk, joke, and laugh for the rest of their dinner. Cecilia makes a move for her wallet. Sam takes her hand and stops her before she can pull out the money.
"No way, am I letting you pay for this." He smiles.
Cecilia rolls her eyes. "Oh, please. There's no need for chivalry, I'm paying."
"Come on, Cecilia. Your money isn't good here."
Giving in she sighs, "Fine."
Eagerly, Sam reaches into his pocket and pulls out his wallet. He places a few bills into a black leather pocket book. Cat returns and takes the book.
"I'll see you two around, yeah?" She asks.
"Sure." The pair answers in unison. Cat strolls away, a broad smile taking over her face.
"At least let me handle the tip." Cecilia begs.
"Alright."
She places a ten dollar bill on the table gathers her belongings and follows Sam outside.
"I had a wonderful time." He grins, taking her hand.
"I did too, even though you weren't the date I was expecting."
He stares at her. Her eyes glow gold in the dim light outside the diner. Sam lets his eyes wander to her lips. Cecilia takes a step closer. He tucks a stray piece of hair behind her ear. Slowly bringing her closer. Their eyelids flutter shut. The kiss was soft, gentle. A test. Cecilia pulls away first. Her ears and cheeks become tinted pink with a soft flush. Each makes a move to continue, but a car horn honking interrupts them.
"I'll come in a moment mama!" Cecilia yells. "Give me your phone!"
Sam hastily fumbles the device out of his pocket and hands it over to Cecilia. She types furiously at it, and shoves it back at him.
"That is my phone number. Use it." She begins to stride away but he reaches out and grabs her wrist making her stop. He pulls her back towards him, and kisses her a second time.
"When can I see you again?" Sam asks.
She shrugs. "I'm not sure. But soon, definitely, soon."
She waves goodbye and hops into her mother's car.
