Today is my sister’s funeral. We all get dressed up in black. Drew’s mom offered to drive me to the funeral, and I hesitated at first, but they insisted. Cameron is sitting in the front while Drew and I sit in the back holding hands. Once we get to the cemetery, I start crying as I see a casket with thousands of flowers around it. Drew pats my back and kisses the top of my head. “It’s okay.” Drew tries to assure me. I nod my head and I wipe away my tears.
“Thank you Drew.”
”For what?” He asks me.
“Everything.” I tell him. Drew smiles at me. Thirty minutes later the funeral begins.
“Hello, thank you all for gathering here today to say the final goodbye’s to Jenny Marie Rae.” We are all silent. He starts talking about my sister, and how it was wrong of her to do this to us, but we might not ever understand how much pain she was in. I can hear my mom crying a row of seats up from me, and that makes me want to cry even more than I am now. Drew seems to read my mind because he squeezes my hand to try to help me feel better. Right now, I don’t even think that his kiss could make me feel better.
About forty minutes later, the funeral is finally over, and Drew hugs me while I cry into his shoulder. Drew strokes my hair over and over again until I look up at him.
“Thank you for coming Drew.” He smiles at me and then just nods. “I love you so much Drew, right now, forever and always.” I say with my voice sounding like it was being squeezed by a rope.
“I love you too. I will always love you, always.” I slightly smile at him and he just keeps hugging me. The word always sticks out to me all the time, it’s like glue. He holds my hand and says “Hey let’s go home now okay?” I nod my head yes. We get in the car and I cry silently all the back to Drew’s house.
Once we are back at the house, I pretend to sleep by closing my eyes so that way he can’t see that I have been crying the whole time. Drew kisses my forehead and then he puts his arms underneath me and picks me up and starts walking upstairs with me wrapped securely in his arms. He tucks me into bed and he climbs in with me. I actually fall asleep this time, this time I don’t pretend.
The next morning I lie awake in bed for about half an hour until Drew wakes up and wraps his arm around my shoulder while I smile at him. “Good morning beautiful.” Drew tells me and then he kisses my cheek. “I can’t believe school is back in two days.” he says with a frown.
“I know.” I respond back. “We should make the most of it while it lasts right?” I laugh. He smiles at me.
“Sure, what do you want to do?”
“I don’t know, well obviously something with you.” I smile.
“Okay.”
“Okay.” I respond back.
“Do you want to go ice skating at the arena?”
