Love at First Sight

chapter 17

It's Christmas, my first Christmas without my family, this should be interesting.

I look over at Drew still sleeping and then I hear Drew's brother yell. "Wake up wake up, it's Christmas!" Drew bolts awake and I look over at the clock, 6:45. By now I should be used to this because my sister would wake up really early every Christmas morning and scream the exact same thing. My sister, I miss her like hell.

"I guess that means we have to get up," Drew kind of laughs.

We both get up and walk down the stairs and I get into my fuzzy purple slippers.

"Alright we're up," say Drew's parents.

"I call opening first gift first!" yells Drew's brother. He rips open the gift and I see that it's a brand new laptop. "Oh my god no way!" He instantly reminds me of my sister when she got a doll on her fifth birthday, my mom was laughing and smiling her big smile with a video camera in her hand. I feel a tear fall down my cheek, I touch it and quickly wipe it away but I wasn't fast enough.

"Hey Casey, are you okay?"

"Drew can I talk to you really quick?"

"Of course, I'll be right back mom and dad." We go in his backyard and I start bawling my eyes out.

"I'm so sorry I don't wanna ruin your family's Christmas, you can go back inside."

"No no no I'm gonna stay with you out here and talk with you, please tell me what's wrong," Drew says with a thoughtful expression.

"I just miss my family everybody is gone, God I just miss them and I want them back so much, God Drew I have no fricken family at all."

"You have me."

"No but that's different Drew you're not actually."

"That's not what I meant." I'm really confused right now but then I see something that totally brings tears to my eyes.

Drew gets down on one knee and pulls a small box out of his pocket. "Casey Anne Rae," He opens the box and I see the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. "I have been in love with you for quite a while but I feel like we've known each other for ages. The way your blonde wavy hair flows in the wind and how your eyes look so bright when you smile makes me feel a way nobody has ever made me feel before. You look so beautiful when you're happy and when your sad, but I like it better when you're happy. I want to wake up for the rest of my life and see your beautiful face, I want to kiss you in the rain, I want to eventually create a new family, but most of all I want you to be happy. So without being said, will you marry me Casey?"

I am so speechless right now I don't know what the hell to say I'm so happy and giddy inside and I'm crying tears of happiness. I nod my head quickly. "Yes, yes, yes, of course. Oh my God did you seriously just?" Drew puts the ring around my ring finger while I cup my other hand over my mouth crying really hard.

"I love you Casey."

"I love you too," we kiss for a while and then we go back inside.

"Hi again, we made cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate while you two were talking," Mrs. Goods smiles at us and I smiled back the biggest non creepy smile I've ever made.

"My my my you're in a chipper mood now aren't you sweetheart?"

"Um yeah," I look at Drew as if I'm saying can I show, and tell, her? Drew nods his head yes. "Well um Drew kind of um proposed to me," I blush.

"Oh honey that's so great! Can I see the ring please?"

"Sure!" I show Mrs. Goods the ring and she cups her hand to her mouth the same way that I did.

"Wow Drew it's so beautiful! I know you two are very young for getting engaged but I'm really happy for you two," she smiles.

"Thank you Tammy," I smile at her. This is amazing Drew is my fiance, I never thought I would say that. Then I remember the note that I wrote for Drew back in California and I wonder if I should give it to him. Now that I think about it though I think I'm gonna wait until our wedding."

"Shall we go sit back down by the tree?"

"Of course," I say smiling. Drew and I take our cinnamon buns and hot cocoa on the couch and sit down. I see my ring shining because of the fire in the fireplace. I keep looking down at it and smiling.

Drew's dad notices. "What's that on your hand there Casey?" I show him the ring that Drew got me and I smile.

"Wait you two are getting married?" Exclaims Drew's brother.

"Yep."

"Wow I never thought anybody would ever say yes to Drew!" I laugh.

"But I did," I smile and look at Drew.

"Alright let's keep opening presents."

"Okay Casey this one is from Daniel and I," she hands me the gift and I unwrap the gift and I see that it's a new phone, an Iphone 5s.

"Oh my god thank you so much, you really did not have to do that!"

Mrs. Goods smiles at me. "Okay and you have one more gift from Drew."

"Why'd you get me so much?" I laugh.

"Because I love you," he hands me the gift.

I unwrap it and I see that it's one of those picture frames that are virtual and it makes a slide show out of all of your pictures, I turn it on and I see that there's already pictures in there of Drew and I. I hug Drew tightly with tears in my eyes.

"Thank you so much," I whisper.

"How's your Christmas so far babe?"

"It's... amazing."

"Well it's not over yet."
