You went to sleep super early that night-- like, eight o' clock. You were really tired, and Glenn offered to sit beside you as you slept on the porch.

You woke up in the morning, Glenn still by your side.

"Hey," you said groggily, rubbing your tired eyes and yawning. "Did you sleep?"

"Nah," he answered, shaking his head. "I couldn't."

"Well I could, apparently," you said. "How's Carl? What's happened?"

Glenn sighed and began to fill you in. "Shane got back. Otis didn't make it. Carl got his surgery. As far as I know, he's doing okay. Maggie came out every so often to fill me in."

"Why didn't you go see yourself?" you asked, tilting your head to the side.

"Well," he laughed, holding his hand up, still holding yours. "You have a death grip in your sleep."

You smiled. "Sorry."

"It's fine," he said. "Actually more than fine."

Your face went red. The door burst open.

"Hey," Maggie said. She looked at the ground. "I could use your help. We, uh, we're gonna make Otis a memorial with some rocks. Give him a funeral."

"Yeah, of course," you replied. "We'll help."

You and Glenn both stood up, still holding hands. Maggie looked down at them and tried to hide her smile as the two of you became aware of the hand-holding and stopped.

You went to get the rocks. A lot of the others helped, all feeling pretty bad about the death of Otis. He shot Carl and then sacrificed his life to save him.

As you all lifted the biggest rocks you could find into a wheel barrow, you saw Daryl's bike in the distance, followed by another car and the rv. You smiled at them.

The next event that day was Otis's funeral.

Maggie and a few of the other people on the farm had stacked the rocks in a pile, like a gravestone. Hershel read out of his Bible and talked about Otis.

"He was a good man," Hershel said. "And I'd like Shane to speak."

Shane looked up, stunned. "I didn't really-"

"You shared his final moments," Hershel said. "Please."

"Okay," Shane replied, nodding. "I didn't know Otis, but he, um, he saved Carl. We were running from them. He had the supplies. He shoved them on me and told me to go. He insisted." Shane took a long breath. "He died a hero."

You stood beside Maggie. A tear rolled down her cheek. You put your hand on her shoulder. She looked up at you and gave you a tight smile.

After the funeral ended, the farm had this wistfulness in the air. It was as if Otis was reaching out his arms, trying to come back. You didn't know him, but he died for Carl. He died for a little boy he barely knew, and something about that screamed that he was protecting this farm in his passing.

"(Y/N)!" Maggie yelled, running over to you. "Okay, so Glenn may or may not have just used himself as walker bait-"

"What? Is he okay?" you yelled.

"Oh, yeah he's fine," she said, nodding. "Anyway, we need supplies."

"Um, not to be rude, but that first part didn't really pertain to the second," you said, raising an eyebrow.

"I just thought you might want to know if your boyfriend went on a suicide mission," she said casually.

"Okay, that's fa-" you paused. "MAGGIE HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND."

She laughed. "Sure. Anyway, we need medicine. I was thinking you might wanna come get it with me."

You were skeptical. She was being really nice. Too nice. "Okay, cool."

She nodded. "Okay, come on."

She starting walking off toward what looked like the stables. You were about to follow when a hand grabbed your shoulder.

"Hey, (Y/N)," Lori said. She fiddled with a piece of paper in her hand. "I, um, need you to get something."

She handed you the paper, which had 'pregnancy test' and 'abortion pills' scrawled on it in messy handwriting.

"Lori," you said, looking up at her. "This is looking like a sticky situation, and after I get these, we're never gonna talk about it again."

She nodded. You turned around and walked off after Maggie.

When you got to the pharmacy, you swallowed hard. This whole thing was awkward as is, with Maggie convinced you were dating Glenn. And now you were getting Lori a pregnancy test, and what made it weirder is that she could actually be pregnant. This was honestly just a weird day.

You walked to the feminine hygiene aisle, where the pregnancy things were kept. You grabbed the pills and stuffed them in the bag Maggie gave you. You grabbed the test...

"(Y/N), where are you?" she said, walking closer to you.

Crap. Find something. Cover up test. Oops. I grabbed condoms. Something--

Maggie found you, including the condoms in your hand. She raised an eyebrow.

"I- have no way to explain this," you said, looking up into her eyes.

"Please tell me you and Glenn are really together. I'm actually begging you at this point," she said.

You laughed and said under your breath, "I wish."

She gasped. "I heard that."

"Heard what?"

"What you said."

"What did I say?" you asked innocently, amused crooked smile adorning your face.

"I knew it," she hissed excitedly, eyes sparkling with pure joy. "That's why you have those." She pointed at the condom box.

"Mags, you're gettin' a little scary," you told her, stuffing it in your bag.

"Mags?"

"Deal with it."

"Just like you'll deal with my matchmaking," she replied, smiling happily. "Which will start now, since we're done here."

You sighed, standing up.

"I have no one to blame but myself," you muttered.

"Heard that, too."

"You have excellent hearing."
