Maggie took you inside. You saw Rick talking to Hershel. He took one look at you and walked over.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

You shook your head. "I'm fine, I just-"

"She's gonna be staying here tonight," Maggie told him.

He looked confused, but nodded and went back to talking to Hershel.

Maggie sat you on the couch. You put your head in your hands as she sat next to you.

"You don't have to talk," she said. "But if you want to, you can."

"I... I just really thought he liked me," you started. "He was always smiling at me, and holding my hand, and when you yelled at us to kiss, I thought I heard him say 'I wish' and..."

Maggie looked at you. "I know."

"I just... Maybe I don't like him. Maybe I just like the fact that he's nice, and that he saved my life. I don't know, I'm not making sense," you reasoned, sighing.

"(Y/N), not everything has to make sense," she replied.

"I just... really liked him. More than I've ever liked anyone. He's just so perfect, you know? He's smart and funny and kind and adorable. And every day is a freaking fight to the death and... What if I die and he never likes me back?" you said, voice breaking on the last sentence. "I'm sorry. We have bigger problems. We don't need to-"

"I don't care what problems we have," Maggie said. "If you are upset over this, you're allowed to be."

"Thanks, Maggie," you said, smiling at her.

She smiled back.

Beth walked in. "What hap- Oh no. Really?"

Maggie motioned for her to sit.

"Did she tell you he's stupid? Because he obviously is," she said.

You laughed a little over your tears.

Beth smiled. "This is good."

You bit your lip and nodded. "You two are right. I've survived worse than this. I don't need him. He's just a stupid... incredibly kind, funny, and actually smart-"

The tears started coming again when a knock sounded on the door.

"Is she in here?" you heard Glenn say. "Maggie!"

Maggie looked at you and wiped the tears from your face. "Breathe."

Beth left the room as Maggie answered the door.

"She's here," Maggie answered him, shrugging. "We were talking."

"About what?" he asked nervously.

"About the barn," she lied. "Do you want in?"

"Will she talk to me?"

"I don't know. (Y/N), will you talk to him?" she asked you.

"Sure," you replied, and Glenn immediately walked over to you.

"Listen, (Y/N), I'm sorry, I just-"

"It's fine, Glenn," you lied. "I'm over it."

You didn't meet his eyes the whole time.

"You don't-"

"Like you? No. Definitely not. I was just lonely, I guess," you lied through your teeth. You didn't want to hear him say he didn't like you. That would be the last straw. You would start crying.

His face dropped. "Oh. Well, I'm glad you, um, figured that out."

"Yeah," you replied, still not meeting his eyes.

"Look, I told you I was always gonna be around. That doesn't stop because of, um, what happened," he said. You looked up at him, forgetting you'd been crying.

"You don't have to say that," you said, looking back down.

"I know," he said. "I want to. We're still friends, right?"

When he smiled, you couldn't say no. So you just nodded.

He looked like he wanted to touch you, but he looked like he didn't feel like he was allowed to anymore.

You wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him as hard as you could, trying so hard not to cry as you buried your face into his shoulder and he hugged you back like he was never letting go.

You wanted him to kiss you so, so bad, but you couldn't want that anymore. You'd rather have him as a friend than not have him at all.

You closed your eyes as a tear ran down your face, onto his shirt. You felt him breathe in harshly as he let you go.

"Glad to have you back," he said, a tight smile decorating his face.

"You, too."
