Jamie was exhausted but he kept fidgeting on the chair and murmuring weird things in his sleep.
Soon his breathing became harsher. It was hard to ignore him any longer. I grudgingly got off my bed and stood next to him.
"Psst! Jay, hey wake up, your having a nightmare."
My brother opened his eyes slightly then turned his head away from me. "I can't do it."
"Can't do what? Wake me up, cause that's exactly what you did."
Ah! I hate it when people don't wake up when I talk to them!
"I can't do it."
"Jay wake up." I grumbled.
The moment I placed my hands on his good shoulder I drew it back quickly in shock.
He's burning up!
With the initiate shock gone, I placed my hand on his head and cursed under my breath. Jamie had a high fever, but how, what does he have? Was he sick?
I glanced at his shoulder and something made me curiously lift his bandage. The moment I did I gagged at the sight. His shoulder was badly infected to the point it was already oozing a greenish yellowy puss.
"Oh my God! Jay, Jay, please hang on! I'll get you some help."
But how? Everyone only came into the room to work during the morning. No one ever came in at my call.
But I had to try some thing!
"Tyler! Tobi! Someone please!" I shouted from the top of my lungs.
No one came but I couldn't give up. I kept screaming their names until my throat got sore.
After a few more attempts a sleepy looking Tobi came into the room with an aggravated look on his face.
Thank goodness!
"Fuck Rolli your worst then a damn dog?! Shut the hell up!" He growled and the lights flicked on.
"Tobi! Tobi please, Jamie has a high fever and his wound is infected. Please I'm begging you, help him!"
Tobi rolled his eyes at me and to my horror he was about to turn around when Laila showed up. She too was half asleep and sporting messy hair. Tobi didn't even bother looking back as she stood behind him.
"Tommy what's wrong? Why are you guys making so much noise? Your lucky we don't have neighbors near the compound."
"I'm not making noise they are. Screeching like a banshee about a fever and infections."
Laila's eyes widen in shock and the sleep quickly left her face. She turned to look at me and Jamie in what looked like worry.
"They're probably trying to escape." Tobi added with a shrug of his shoulders.
No that's not it!
"I swear Tobi we're not, Jamie's wound got badly infected, it's causing him to run a high fever! If you don't believe me then check him!" I pleaded desperately.
"Infections don't start that fast dumbass. He was fine when we last checked. Lets just go back to bed Lea." Tobi said as he yawned. "I swear she never acts up when it's Tyler watch."
Just before Tobi walked out the door Laila side stepped him, snuck through and quickly ran towards my brother's side.
"Wait Laila it could be a trick, don't get next to him!" Tobi ran after her and picked her up by the waist to stop her.
