I woke up later on this morning in a panic. Laila was gone. I didn't even realize when I fell asleep and now she's gone!

Where is she?!

Terror was all I felt; I jumped out of bed and searched for my gun but it was missing too.

I needed to find her now! But after searching each room frantically, I came up with nothing.

Damn it! Where is she?!

My mind kept picturing her with the gun pointed to her own head and pulling the trigger. After last night I couldn't scratch that off my list anymore.

Please, please be ok.

I searched the last closet and nothing. She wasn't in the house.

I had to find her!

Before I turned to leave the room, I was knocked forward by something hitting the back of my head.

My vision blurred and I saw double of everything, as if someone fired a gun near my head, even my hearing was discombobulated.

I thought I heard Leila bark and growling but everything was swirling so badly I didn't know where it was coming from or what was happening.

The growling sounds stopped followed by a whimpering noise then complete silence.

The person who attacked me, kicked my ribs then my head again, but all I could think of was finding Laila.

Whoever was attacking me had her! I needed to find her.

My vision blurred again then darkness overcame me.

*********

I woke up again with the sound of barking.

Leila?

I shook my head but that just made the pain worst. My vision came back slowly and I was able to make out Leila in the corner tied up to a heater. She was trying to get loose but whoever put her there made it impossible for her.

"Finally you're awake."

I turned to the side and blinked a few times in shock.

Sitting on one of the dining chairs at the table was Laila. She was glaring at me with such resentment I had to blink a few times to make sure it was her.

I looked around the room to see if anyone was here too but it was just us. Turning back to Laila, I tried moving but I was tied to the chair.

Who did this?

Laila hadn't moved an inch as she watched me. Our bags were on the table next to her, and our things scattered everywhere as if someone was looking through it.

"What's going on?"

"That's something I'd like to know myself." She growled as she stood and walked closer to me with my Bretta in her hands. She raised it to my face and cocked it.

My breath was caught in my chest. She was going to shoot me, again, but this time I won't be walking out of it alive.

"Wait."

"Shut up! You coward!" She snapped.

"Please calm down!"

What's wrong with her? Is she having another one of her episodes?

"It just had to be you, of all people!" She growled.

"Please untie me."

She laughed humorlessly. "Why would I do that?"
