"The duty of youth is to challenge corruption."

- Kurt Cobain

The lingering whispers of the lost boys cradle Jane, making her shake as she grabbed the arm of her brother, wishing only for his protection in this moment of truth.

She wasn't scared.

She was....

Curious.

Who was Peter, really? The stories told little of his past, despite the end where he met his faults. The horror of growing up, leaving all good and great behind. An illusion of happiness built on bills and welfare.

She was glad she escaped to Neverland. Hell, she still couldn't wrap her mind around the situation, but she's had days to ponder on it.

Across from them all, standing tall in the middle of the crowd of lost boys, was Peter. His expression contemplating, but his chin held high, as if he was still contemplating his do's and dont's, but knew that either way, he would prevail. His lost boys, His lost girl (or otherwise known as, his prisoner), and above all else, his wit.

Clearing his throat, he sauntered to jane, grabbing her wrist with a motion of force.

"Boys. I find it certain now that I must introduce my grace, Jane, At first I tried to keep lady Jane a secret due to the laws of the land that decree all girls to surrender to Tiger Lily's word. But Jane, she is special. And we must, as brothers, swear to protect her, even if that means putting yourself before her. Do you understand?" He declared, hand slightly tracing her brunette locks.

Jane looked around in utter confusion. What in the world made her so special? And what was Tiger Lily's importance? Huffing, she tore away from him, emerald eyes gazing into his.

"Alright, you have given them answers, but I have yet to have mine. Who is Tiger Lily, and what makes me so damned important?" She fumed, fear edging at her lips.

She felt mad, caged in by a bunch of loon's, eyeing her with fascination, awe, and curiosity. Hadn't they ever been this close to a girl?

Peter nodded, nearing her once again.

"Yes, that only seems fair. Now, Tiger Lily and I... We were one of the firsts to live on the island. Both of us lusting to rule the grounds. In desperation and determination, we each formed a group of followers, The lost boys, us, and The doe eyed, them. Desperate, we divided the land, swearing that as long as we lived by each other's rules, that all can live in harmony. All boys were to serve under the lost boys and all the girls to the doe eyed. Once upon a time I brought a girl to Neverland, and promised I would not hand her over to Tiger Lily. I fought for her, I did. But this decision brought on a war of the tribes and in the end, they conquered, and we became sworn enemies. Now if the girl's ever find out you're here, they will kill you. That is why we must vow for your safety." he explained, as they drifted close once again, the hum of there breaths lingering the musty air.

Mind wandering, Jane pondered the spoken words, all of it hitting her so fast, so sudden. Only now had she really acknowledged that this was real. Neverland was a real place, and Peter Pan a real person. But how? A million questions flooded her, but one was the most prominent.

"But why? Why is it so important that I am protected? Why am I here, Peter?"

She had expected a troubled expression, something other than what she had been given.

"Darling, Darling, Every child needs a mother." He smirked, eyes leaving hers to meet every boys that huddled around the two.
