"If the past is not resolved, future relationships will suffer. Let your heart heal, before you open the door to another."

- Unknown

Once upon a time... there was a girl named Wendy Darling.

"P-Peter. I can't stay here anymore. Don't you understand? I have to be with my brothers. My family must be worried sick about me." Wendy cried, glass eyes attempting to meet Peter's.

He wore an expression of contemplation, trying to hide the sorrow that hid in his eyes. He couldn't let his dear bird leave. They've been through so much.

"No." Was all Peter could say, eyebrows furrowing together as he purses his lips.

Wendy looked taken aback, swallowing, as she drew closer to him, forcing him to meet her gaze.

They got lost in each others eyes, how they shone so passionate for each other, they would do anything in the others best interest.

"If you truly cared for me Peter, you would allow me to be with my family." Wendy choked back a sob, hands reaching to cup his chin. She didn't strive to hurt him. In fact, she dreaded seeing him this way.

But as time drew on, the days became meaningless, succumbing to the blank canvas of eternity, repeating day after day after day. It seemed years have gone by. Maybe even decades. And by this time, Michael and John would be grown. She had to see them, she felt so alone without them by her side.

He stared into her Robin's egg blue eyes, holding back a stream of tears.

"Don't say that Wendy. Don't you ever say that. You know how much I care for you..." Peter said, pulling his bird close.

"Honestly Peter, I don't know anymore. I know you believe what your doing is in my best interest but, I'm growing miserable here, Peter. Day after day, it's the same darned routine! I'm not supposed to be a child anymore Peter. I'm supposed to be all grown up and married." Wendy explained, pulling away from him, her frail arms dropping to her sides, her brunette curls bouncing on her shoulders.

Peter shook his head, growing slightly annoyed. But isn't this what she always wanted? That's what she told him in the past, How she wanted forever to be a child, to escape the burdens of growing to become a house-wife. What had changed? In Neverland nothing changes... ever.

"Stop speaking nonsense, darling. I love you with all my heart. Now if you don't stop blabbering on like a fool, I'm afraid I'll have to punish you." Peter replied with a smirk and a slight chuckle.

Wendy furrowed her eyebrows together, becoming aroused with anger. Couldn't he see? Was he really that childish? She didn't want to be here with him anymore. She wanted out.

"No Peter. You stop. I'm sick of dealing with you thinking that I am the same girl I was when you abducted me. Mind you, I didn't choose to come here. At first I was bashful with excitement, but I grew to learn that being a child forever isn't all good. We're human. We are meant to grow. No more child's play anymore, Peter. I'm going home." Wendy spat, all of it pouring out of her. And when it had, she regretted it immediately. She saw how Peter's expression changed, and it just broke her heart. It was all in the heat of the moment!

It was as if Wendy threw Peter's glass heart at a tree and shattered it. His passionate giddiness died that day. His heart racing fast, temple pounding, and fists trembling, he stepped back, away from his beloved.

"If marriage is what you want, I will give you it. Anything, I'll find a way to fetch it for you. J-Just Wendy... Pl--ease d-don't leave me. The lost boys need you-- What are we to do with out your grand tales?" Peter breathed, a single tear trailing down his cheek.

Wendy closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, before opening them again.

"I want to go home, Peter. Back to London. That is all I wish."

Everything changed that night. The stars painted the sky, the moon shining above their heads so bright. It was truly mesmerising. But Wendy Darling broke his heart that night.

And nothing is more dangerous than some one who's had their heart broken.

Peter decided that night that the only way his Wendy-bird wouldn't fly away from him was if he locked her up in a cage.

Peter became mad, bitter, and arrogant. He shed any speck of childlike traits, as Wendy wanted a man, no child. And even despite the fact he locked her away, he would stop at nothing to still please her. He even built her a tree house (Which was of course, heavily guarded by Lost boys) to escape her cage every once in a while.

She tore up his heart, and in return, he tore apart her wings.

And time sped on and eventually Emma, Rumplestilskin, Regina, Prince Charming, & Snow White came and stole her from him, never to be in his arms again.

And that is the story of love long shared between two lost children.

Now, Peter found his new darling lady, but could she ever replace what he and Wendy once shared?
