"Hey Dad, Hazel's not back from collecting berries yet," Nico said, walking up to his father. "I'm getting worried."

"Oh, she'll be fine," Hades said, waving him off. "If you're so worried, go find her yourself. The less you're around, the better."

Nico felt a small pang in his chest. He knew his father didn't care whether he or his sister lived or died, but it still hurt. The boy heard hooves hitting the cobblestones outside the small house, and went to investigate.

Standing in front of the door in the cool autumn air was Arion, Hazel's horse. Arion tossed his head, as if he wanted Nico to get on his back. Nico hopped on, and Arion took off.

The small boy held on for dear life as the horse weaved through thick underbrush and leapt over fallen logs before trotting through a gate set in a huge wall. Nico slid out of the saddle and stared up at the beautiful castle before him. It was clear that it was old, the stone worn from years of harsh weather. He stepped through the giant front doors, only to be greeted by a whirl of fabric and curly hair.

"Nico!" Hazel squealed. "This castle is so nice! And the people are even nicer!" Nico chuckled, dropping his usual straight face as he usually did in front of his favorite, and only, sister.

"Well, thank you for saying that!" a female voice chimed from behind Hazel. "Now let him in before he catches a cold!" Hazel nudged Nico closer to the voice and the huge stone fireplace. Nico sat down, and immediately, the voice said, "Leo! Get in here and start this fire!" The boy looked down to see a feather duster shooing a box of matches closer to the fire. "Come on, Leo!" the voice said, only this time, Nico noticed that it came from the feather duster itself.

"I'm going, I'm going!" The box of matches said. "Calm down, woman." The box opened, and one match levitated out. It lit itself on the box, then was tossed onto the logs in the fireplace. Miraculously, a fire started almost immediately.

"Everyone!" The feather duster yelled down the hall. "He's here!"

A loud clatter was heard from the hall, then a tsunami of objects tumbled into the room. The pen rolled end over end, and the roll of blueprints seemed to roll it's eyes at the writing utensil while the gold coin just laughed. Nico couldn't help but notice that a large figure stayed behind in the shadows.

"Nico, meet the people that have been so nice to me," Hazel said. "Piper is the feather duster, Leo is the box of matches, Jason is the gold coin, Percy is the pen, Annabeth is the blueprints, Reyna is the sword, and Frank is the book of animals."

Nico ran the names through his head, still trying to compute that these objects were alive. "Ookaaaay," he said slowly. "And who is that?" Nico pointed to the large shape in the shadows.

"That's Will," Hazel said, beaming. "He's the nicest of them all." Hazel leaned over and whispered in her brother's ear, "He's a bit scared of what you'll think of him when you see him."

"Really?" Nico asked, shocked. Hazel nodded, so Nico got up and walked over to the hulking shape. "Come on, into the light you go, big guy," he said, taking hold of what he assumed was a giant paw.

The creature that emerged had giant fangs, and huge paws that we're sure to house razor sharp claws. On every inch of its body was golden fur that shimmered in the flickering light from the fire.

One thought ran through Nico's mind and out his lips.

"Wow. You're really fluffy."
