Nico sat on his throne, half asleep, as his father, the king, recieved guests to the castle. His mind drifted off to a few weeks ago, when he was still missing.

"Hey, stop that!" he said laughing, as his dragon nudged him, almost knocking him over. Nico pushed his dragon's golden snout with a huff. "It's not fair. I can't knock you over." He turned and crossed his arms, resolving to ignore the dragon.

The dragon curled his tail around Nico and pulled him against his side. He looked down at the small brown eyed boy, smiling in the toothy way dragons do, his unnaturally blue eyes glowing.

"Stop it, Sunshine," Nico muttered. The dragon laid his head in Nico's lap, closing his eyes. "Oh, I can't stay mad at you," Nico said, laying a hand on the dragon's snout.

"Nico," his father said. "Snap out of it, you have visitors."

Nico sat up, and in the doorway stood the warrior that had supposedly saved him from a vicious beast. The young prince sat back with a sigh, and zoned out as the warrior began to speak.

Nico was woken up by a loud roar. He sat up and saw a man attacking his dragon. Running over, he got between the man and the dragon. "Stop!" he yelled. "Don't hurt him!"

"Stand aside," the man commanded. "Let me deal with this creature that so obviously has you under its spell."

"No!" Nico yelled, as the warrior's sword cut through one of his dragon's beautiful wings. The warrior grabbed the boy and threw him onto a horse. As they raced away, Nico reached out his arm to touch his dragon, the one that had saved him, one last time.

"What is up with you lately?" his father asked him when the warrior had left. "You won't listen, you sneak out of the castle whenever you want, and you've been exceptionally rude to the man who saved you!"

"He didn't save me! I was fine," Nico snapped back.

Someone cleared their throat, and both royals' heads snapped around to face the sound. A young man, just older than Nico stood in front of their thrones.

"Who might you be?" the king asked.

"I am William Solace, and I have come to ask to be the prince's personal guard." Nico looked closer at him. Something was familiar about this man, but he didn't know what.

"Well, I'll leave you two alone to get to know each other," the king said.He could tell that these two knew each other somehow. He got up, and left the room, a small smile on his face.

William looked up at Nico and locked eyes with him, and when he did, all the air seemed to rush out of Nico.

Those eyes.

Nico stumbled through the night, trying to find his way back to town. He finally collapsed at the edge on a clearing, too weak and cold to go on. The last thing he saw before he fell into unconsiousness were a pair of bright blue eyes.

When he woke up, he was curled up against a warm, golden, something. The something shifted, and Nico looked up and saw those same eyes staring at him. Normally, he would be completely freaked out, but those eyes were so kind and caring, that he just couldn't.

The Something's head came closer and nuzzled him. It's tail came closer, rolling a few apples.

"For me?" Nico asked, pointing at the apples. The Something nodded, so Nico picked one up and started to eat.

The Something got up to stretch, and Nico found himself staring in awe. It was beautiful.

Golden wings reached for the sky, gleaming in the early morning light. Its tail stretched out, and head shook back and forth. Nico stared in awe for a moment, before it hit him.

The thing that had saved him was a dragon.

"Sunshine?" Nico asked hesitantly, rising from his throne. Will didn't answer, he just walked up the steps, stopped in front of Nico, and gave him a huge hug.

"It's me," he murmured. Nico felt tears well in his eyes as he hugged his dragon back, burying his face in the other's chest. He knew everything would be alright if he had his dragon by his side.

Well, this one was a bit longer. There probably won't be an update tomorrow, and if there is, it will probably be short.

Stay sparkling, my friends!
