Scarlett and I reached the school after a five minute drive - pointless getting in to the car, she was just polluting, and I liked walking anyway. She drove around the car park, finding a space close to the gates, she could've parked anywhere, but no, lets park right in front of the football team.

Scarlett got out, and heads turned, she was wearing a nude pink chiffon skirt, with an off white silk shirt, she looked so elegant as the wind made her outfit dance, and her firey hair float. The guys on the football team stared at her, and I swear, some of their tongues fell out. I got out - unnoticed - as she gave everyone a showgirl smile. She was such a natural people person, it's hard to even imagine being like that.

We recieved our timetables in morning registration, I had a free first thing, and a week full of academia, French, Physics, Phsychology, Both Maths, and Further Maths. I'd chosen all of my favourite things. Physics and Maths was my dream.Scar and I weren't in a single class together, she's arty farty, and I was the complete opposite. I'm gonna have to start making new friends if school's going to be tolerable.

"Ella, why don't you try to impress people a little more?" Scarlett said to me as I walked her to her first lesson.

"Scar, you know how it is! I'm not as outgoing and... Interesting as you." she looked as me dissatisfied.

We reached the art room, and she turned to look at me, "Listen. I know you've found the past year difficult, but I remember when you were a boy crazy, carefree teen. Bring her back please?" I just stood there looking at her. Dumbfounded. She turned her back on me and walked through the door.

I walked into the commonroom and set my bag down on the desk beside one of the computers. I could here the mindless chatter from the people around me, and I took out my phone. I had fifty minutes to kill, so I might as well play a game or something.

"If I may say so, you are absolutely atrocious at that." I had no idea who it was, so I turned myself around; staring down at me, were a pair of deep brown eyes.

"I honestly doubt you'd be much better..." I replied sharply.

"Well, I challenge you to beat me." He winked at me, then sat down next to me.

"Ugh, fine then," I handed him my phone, and watched him play.

I took the time to give im the once over - once a boy crazed teen, always a boy crazed teen - he had an oval face, and a long nose (not witch long though), his hair was a honey brown, and and styled to a point. He was slender, and wore navy chinos, and a navy hoodie, half zipped up. Not a bad looker if I do say so.

"Knew I'd beat ya." Smug idiot. The bell rang, MY SAVIOUR.

"I best be going now."

"Let me walk you?"

"Yeah whatever, I've got Politics," please God, tell me he's on the other side of campus.

"Ah, my Geography class is right next door to you!" He looked genuinely enthralled by this.

"Oh, cool..."

"I'm Ashton, Ashton Carter. You can call me Ash."

"Ella James."

"A pleasure to meet you Miss James" He held his hand out.

"Just Ella's alright..." I took his hand and shook it. We walked to class, with him aimlessly chatting the whole way.

I sat down in the corner at the back of the classroom, hoping to exclude myself from anyawkward social encounters. Around ten people walked in, half of them avoiding people - at least I'm not the only one. Then a young girl came in, with brown eyes and rich brown hair tousled softly around her beaming face walked in, and straight towards me. She sat down in the empty seat next to me.

"I hope this seat isn't taken," she chirped at me, "my name's Alexandria, but you can call me, Alex, or Alexa."

"I'm Ella, James."

"A pleasure to meet you." She may be too happy, but she seemed like a sweet girl.

"You too." I smiled softly, I think?

"So, any boys caught your eye yet?" Alex was a bit eager for us to talk.

"Mmm, I don't know yet, perhaps," my mind wondered to Ash, "you got your eyes on someone?"

By the end of the lesson, she'd given me a rundown on the boys at school, excluding a few, who didn't seem, 'my type.' As we were packing away, I asked, "What about Ash?"

"Who?"

"Um, Ashton Carter?" I think that's what he said...

She chuckled, "Ash's my brother." Oh crap. she's gonna think I like him. "Don't worry, I won't tell him" Then she tottered out.

"Alex, I don't like him!" Too late. Ugh.

The day went on in a similar fashion, I spoke to a couple of nice people, Damon, a tall skinny boy with black hair and blue eyes; Harriet, a short chubby girl with blue hair and grey eyes, and Sam, a average height, brunette, who was in my Physics class. She was the only girl in there! Ash ended up in my Maths class, and he came over to sit with me. No mention of his sister though... Maybe she didn't tell him after all?

Weeks went on in the same fashion, until one Friday afternoon, when I took my seat next to Ash in Maths that things got complicated.

"There's this party tomorrow night, round Benji's" - he was like the 'IT kid' in school already, "I was wondering, y'know, if you wanted to go with me?"

"It's nice of you to ask and all, but I wasn't invited. Sorry!"

"I asked if I could bring someone, and he said yes."

"Why me though Ash? I'm hardly little miss social..."

"You're good to talk to, and I like spending time with you." He flashed me a half smile - man he's attractive when he does that.

I rolled my eyes at him, "I'll come. You owe me though Ashton." He smiled fully and gave me a quick hug, but pulled away red with embarrassment. I smiled softly, then pointed from him to turn his attention to the front.
