Who Brought Them Together

~Chapter 6~

    Rose's POV:

I wake up to see the sun shining through my shattered window. I yawn as my ear twitches and sit up slowly, still tired. Everyone is getting ready for school, scrambling around the house.

I swing my pastel yellow backpack over my shoulder, my jean jacket sleeves going up.  I walk out the door right after my brother, Mitch, and stand on the porch. I look at my feet, covered in my white flip flops. I hear a loud noise, and look up to see our school bus. The doors swing open, and I step up and into it.
     
I start to walk to the back of the bus; the only place where nobody else sits. I am looking at my feet, walking down the aisle and hear faint snickers as I pass.
    
Please don't let anything happen today...I can't deal with it today...
    
I sit down. The snickering and chatter continues. The person in front of me turns around, towering over me.I can feel the bus jolt forward as it starts driving.
    
Emily sits next to me, linking arms with me.

"Leave her alone!" Emily rages to the boy in front of me. The boy looks right at Emily and goes closer to her, intimidatingly. 

"You're going to stick up for the girl who's family doesn't even care about her?" My eyes widen slowly, and I look over to Emily.
   
"W-what...do you mean...?" Emily stutters, looking at me then back at the boy.
    
"Maybe she doesn't even know what care IS Emily, she will betray you."
    
Tears fill my eyes, as confusion fills my heart. How... I open my mouth to speak, but the boy interrupts. Emily looks at the boy.
   
"She will hurt you Emily. Just like her father hurts her."
    
"S-STOP!" I scream with my scratchy throat, choking on my own tears.
     
Emily is the only one who I can trust. My only friend. The only reason I stay in this stupid place.
     
I look at Emily in tears. She glances at me, and suddenly her once loving eyes turn to hateful. She jolts her arm away from me. She stands up, and sits next to the boy, crossing her arms, a smirk across her face.
    
I hear laughs erupt from the entire bus as I cover my face in my knees. Once one thing happens, all the other horrible memories flood into my mind. I erupt in cries and the bus drives on.
