Nothing really new today. . . I guess it's just a new chapter :) I was listening to The Ghost of You by My Chemical Romance, even though it has NOTHING to do with the book . . . . but it kind of reminds me of Adrian's POV.
Enjoy! ~Kaitlyn
The Careers are smart, but you can be smarter. The Careers this year are real air-heads. I might have a chance of winning against them, and if you can figure out how to get them to break, then you might win too.
Since Careers can get so many sponsors, and because of their skills, they for certain have so many supplies you can't count, so it is a good idea to get rid of them. Or you can find a way to kill them all, but that will be harder.
Either way, I wish you the best of luck on that.

Peeking around the tree branch, Summer and I glance to see the source of the voices. The Careers are all standing around a younger boy, who is lying on the ground whimpering in pain. Finally, I realize that they are sticking little knives up and down his arms and legs, slowly killing him.
Mahogany, Harman, Rosamund, and all of the other Careers laugh when he begs for them to stop torturing him. A small girl steps up, her dark hair pull into a loose bun.
"May I do the honors?" She asks Mahogany.
Mahogany smirks," Sure, Jade."
Jade smiles mishievously as she faces the young boy. She raises an axe she is holding in her hand.
I don't know why, but I snatch the bundle of arrows from Summer, slipping one out and placing it on my bow. I aim at Jade, and let it slip from my fingers and sink into her side.
Jade cries out in pain, and six other faces bolt up to look at me. Wait, six? How many Careers are there this year?
"Quick!" I instruct Summer, who has already turned around. I bolt after her as the Careers grab their weapons to chase us.
While still darting through the trees, I turn half way around, aiming another arrow. It lands in the boy from District 1, and his cannon goes off. Jade isn't running after us, but another cannon goes off shortly afterward.
Summer grabs my hand.
"This way!" She guides me.
She drags me behind a labyrinth of pines, turning corners and batting at branches. Finally, she dives underneath an evergreen, crawling behind a large boulder wedged in between the trees.
I flatten myself against the rock, listening to batter of the Career's feet.
"Where'd they go?" I hear Mahogany's silvery voice ask.
Huge gasps of air come from a boy with a deep voice, "I don't know, but we'll hunt for them at night. They're more vulnerable then."
Grunts of annoyance come from the group as I hear them walk away. Summer mouths to me "Don't move yet."
We stay like that for another ten minutes before we finally stand up.
"Come on," I tell Summer, "They probably thought those cannons were us,"
We trek back to find Gemma and Nico hiding behind the ruins of a stone building. Nico stands up when he sees us.
"Where were you?" He asks, "We thought you were dead!"
"No, two Careers got killed. We found shelter, but it's too close to the Career camp. They're a large group this year. There were seven of them when we found them, even the boy and girl from 3 were there. Do you guys just want to camp out here?" I ask.
"Yes, it will be safer," Nico says.
He picks up Gemma, who is asleep on the ground with the gauze still wrapped around her leg. Summer and I clear away some rocks from the ruins, concealing us from a person's naked eye. The rabbit we caught can't be eaten raw, and since the Careers are hunting us, a campfire would be to obvious. For dinner that night, we eat part of the fruit from our backpacks.
Soon in the middle of the night, the Capitol's symbol appears in the night sky, and the anthem begins playing. The dead tributes.
First to appear is the boy from 1, the boy I shot with my arrow. No one from District 2, 3, or 4. I guess Jade didn't die from my arrow, then I recognize the face of the pained boy they killed. He was apparently from 5. The girl from 6, and both from 8. The boy from 9, and the boy from 10. Then the girl from 11, and the boy from 12. Nine dead, and 15 alive. I'm shocked at the turn of events.
After everyone is asleep, I wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of feet running past our shelter. Staying hidden, I silently peek around the corner of a rock. Two boys and a girl run and stop only a few meters from my hiding spot.
"You sure we're on her trail?" One of the boys ask.
"We should be. I saw a few arrows back there, and she grabbed it at the Cornucopia. It's the only bow in the arena." The other says.
"Can't we just search for her tomorrow?" The girl complains, "It's too late. We're not gonna find her tonight in an arena this big."
"Shut up, Lavendar!" The second boy says.
"She's right," The other boy says, "She could be anywhere. It would be best to save our energy and search for her tomorrow."
The second boy sighes annoyed, "Fine, Severin. Go ahead and be pussies and go to bed."
The boy and girl walk back the way the came. The girl turns back around.
"Okay, just remember though, you'll never find her without our skills. I wouldn't recommend abandoning us, Fable."
My breath is nearly knocked out. Fable's hunting me? He must really hate me then. I recognize the boy and girl. The boy is from 11, and the girl is from 12. They aren't Careers, but they must be strong if they're in an alliance with Fable.
Well, the odds are definitely not in my favor. Nine of the tributes are out to kill me, and three others are part of my alliance. The other two, well God knows what they're up too. Not to mention, my stylist and her supposed "friend" think I'm a threat, so I have an additional two to my list of people who want to kill me.
If anyone who knew me at home knew my actual side, they'd realize my only option. Not sitting like a coward like most tributes, but try to decrease that list, and that means killing all who are a threat to me.

I wake up early, grabbing my bow and the tied bundle of arrows, and head into the woods. Fable and his group might be nearby, and even though we have the rabbit and fruit, we still need food. But even though I have to kill tributes, I'm not going to wait in the pines for hours waiting for any random tribute that walks by.
Instead, I need to attack them when they least expect it. Trapping. If it can work on an animal, it can for sure work on a human. Even if I don't catch a tribute, at least I can get an animal.
I begin my trap, bending branches and tying them to pullies to pull the trapped person into the air, making it more difficult to escape. I search through my backpack trying to find knives, or anything that would help in trapping, but I come up empty.
Annoyed, I sit back, staring at the tops of the trees. I sulk for about ten minutes when a hear a faint beeping noise come from above. I glance up startled, and see the bulk of a silver parachute.
Excited, I climb up the tree, reaching over and grabbing the silver canister hanging from the cords. I open it, finding a collection of small knives. I smile, then notice the silver chain draped around.
I curiously pull that off, studying it to find a beautiful dark green emerald pendant hanging from the chain. A district token.
Wrapped around the bundle of knives is a white slip of paper. I unwind it, reading the type on it.
Be smart. I have faith in you. -A
