The ride there was pretty quiet. He didn't look me in the eyes much. Watching us enter the town before feeling my phone buzz.
"How are you feeling?"-Leo. I remember that we were getting close before the infection but I didn't think he would really care that much. Texting back quickly that I was fine as we pulled up to the Walmart. Feeling the knot in my stomach as we stood up.
"Do you think you need note books or will they let you use your laptop?" Shrugging as I just followed behind him. I didn't know if they would be nice like that or would they still be old fashioned. Entering the store as I grabbed a cart.
"Heey!" Feeling an odd sensation run through me as I turned and looked at the familiar voice. Seeing Leo waving to me before walking over. I felt my body itch with heat as I stared into his eyes. Something about him was making me nervous. I watched as he smirked to me.
"I'll go get some food for us." My dad's voice was quiet but he left with the cart pretty quickly leaving me here with Leo alone, slightly shocked.
"I'm surprised you are out and about already. I imagined you wouldn't want to leave the house when you got back?" Giving him a strange look before his face shifted. "So you're here getting supplies for school right?" Nodding as I followed him, hoping he knew where we were going.
Walking in silence for a moment as we turned down an aisle. Seeing it was empty before I felt him suddenly pull me into his arms. Letting out a gasp as I flinched away at first. But feeling the heat come from his body gave me shivers. I felt small in his embrace as he held me tightly. Inhaling his scent as I looked up. Seeing him look down, his eyes searched my face before I felt his hand resting on my cheek. Feeling the warmth made me close my eyes and lean into his hand.
"Nova," Opening my eyes to his gaze as his eyes searched mine. Feeling something stir in me I watched as he bent down, watching my eyes cautiously. His eyes traveled to my lips before back to my eyes. Blushing as I realized what he wanted. Did I want to kiss him? Was he just a player who ran out of people to hit on and moved to the new girl?
Feeling his soft lips touch mine as I closed my eyes. You know that cliche moment where something just feels right? This did. Feeling my body grow hot and light as I leaned into the kiss. Getting closer to him. Feeling his other hand grab my face as we stood there for a moment. Feeling him break away from me as I stared at him, my mind completely blank. Besides kissing a stranger it felt so right. Biting my lip as he looked down at me with something in his eyes.
"Wow..." It was low but he smiled at me. "I've been meaning to do that for a while." Feeling my face blush as we slowly untangled. "So, school supplies." Nodding my head as he went back to his energized self. Explaining all that I could expect. How I didn't need to worry, about the cool sports and how good i'll fit in. Nodding to him as I couldn't get that kiss out of my head.
"How is it going kiddos?" My dad turned around the corner with a cart full of food as we had been balancing binders, notebooks, looseleaf and pens. Nodding as we put them inside. I zoned out as I continued following them. Occasionally having to answer something before sinking back into my mind.
"Nova?" I jerked out of my thoughts to see Leo giving me a concerned look. Giving him a smile before realizing we had already left the store and I was just standing at the car. "I'll text you okay, maybe we can go out and get a bite to eat?" I nodded before my Dad gave his input.
"When she's better." He gave Leo a glare before getting inside the car. Looking back over at Leo who looked like he was having conflicting thoughts.
"Of course, whenever you feel ready Nova." Seeing something pass through his eyes before he said good bye once again leaving me there slightly stunned. Getting in the car before we headed home. Feeling the toll on my body from just going out as I barely could keep my eyes open. Falling Asleep on the way back.
