Feeling the crisp morning air seep through my open window as I held my covers closer. Opening my eyes as I watched curtains flowing from the breeze. Thinking to myself if I closed it last night or not. Deciding that I probably left It open as I reached over and flicked off the table lamp. A bad habit I had, sleeping with the light on.
Sitting up and stretching before letting my feet hit the cold ground. Making a mental note that I needed to get either slippers or a cheap rug. Closing the window as I grabbed the hair brush on my dresser and quickly brushed my hair and done it up in a braid. Letting it flow down my back.
"Nova, I got some breakfast!" Hearing the front door open and shut as my Dad's voice echoed through the house. Walking down stairs to see my dad with a couple paper cups and a paper bag before he gave me a smirk. "I didn't say I made them exactly." Hearing his laugh as I smirked, Walking over to see which one had tea written on it before he passed me one. "I have to be honest, they were confused when they heard my teenage daughter wanted mint tea." Giving him a slight glare as I let the mint smell engulf my nose.
I loved it, it was just a weird quirk I had. My dad handed me a bagel from inside the bag as I sat down at the small table. Looking at the kitchen as I realized how much everything needed to be redone. Feeling my chest ache as it was probably going to cost a lot. I needed a job, to help restore this. Drumming my fingers as a bad habit before my father sighed.
"What's bothering you?" Biting on my lip. Mouthing the word 'job' before he arched his brow. "But I have one?" He looked slightly confused. Giving him a look of annoyance before pointing to me. "Oh." I Saw his eye shift before he held a frown on his lips. "You know it's the summer right? You can be a teenager, I hear that's the hip thing to do now-a-days." Seeing him smirk at his joke as I felt the internal groan.
Going back to eating my blueberry bagel and drinking on my tea. Seeing my dad head back outside, leaving the door open as I got a gaze of the backyard better. Following him out to see how badly it was out here. Beside the overgrown garden, the leaf filled pool and the need to be mowed lawn, it seemed habitable. I could try working on this.
"God this is going to be fun," My dad muttered under his breath. Hearing his phone go off before He answered it. Hearing him saying his usual bombardments of yes and nodding, despite them unable to see it. After a bit he hung up, I watched him give me the I'm sorry eyes. "There has been an emergency meeting, I got to head out for a bit. They need me but i'll be back before dinner. Pizza okay?" Nodding yes as I hid my disappointment. Knowing that this would give me time to fix something up for him.
After he hugged me, he left pretty quickly. Leaving me in the back yard as I walked on the concrete outside. The back had a build inground pool. What looked like once upon a time garden area and a small amount of grass leading out front. Seeing the shed as I scarfed down the last bit of bagel before heading over and checking to see if we still had a lawn mower. If I can tackle that task then that will help him lots.
Opening the shed and smiling as I saw the lawn equipment, the lawn mower there as well. I guess this will be a tiring day ahead. Pulling the lawn mower out and deciding that this would be the first thing I would do. Pushing it towards the side before starting it up, the noise startling me briefly before I laughed at myself. Here we go.
