I was dreaming about Austin. I was on a beach in a white dress. The waves crashed against my feet and made me shiver.
" Rebecca?" Austin asked and I spun to him. His eyes widened then I ran into his warm embrace.
" Austin." I breathed.
" Are you okay? How have you been?"
" I miss you Austin. It's hard living with out you." I said and then we kissed. The sun was setting. He pulled back.
" Rebecca, I don't know how much longer it will be. But I know I've missed being with out you. It's been too long. " he said and the wind blew my hair around. He grabbed a piece and placed behind my ear. His thumb stroked my cheek.
" I will come back for you. I will get out. I promise." He said and kissed me again. That's when the dream ended.
" Hey." Gabe said gently touching my shoulder. I opened my eyes and looked to Gabe.
" Austin's alive!" I said and Gabe's face shifted to a mask of pain.
" Rebecca-"
" No he is! He was in my dream!"
" Here let's get shopping over with then we'll talk about this okay?"
" Okay." I said and hopped out of the car.
" Where do we start my lady?"
" Cake!" I said and he motioned for me to lead the way. We walked and I looked around to find a good cake.
" What about this one?" Gabe asked holding up a cake. It had white icing and had a monkey on it.
" Um no." I said and we kept looking. We went through every single cake.
" None of these are good!" I said throwing my hands up. Gabe walked over and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
" Calm down Becca." He said softly. I took a deep breath. And closed my eyes.
" Well it's not every day you want to rip your hair out over a cake." I said and opened my eyes again. Gabe moved away and smiled a mischievous grin.
" I have an idea." Gabe said and turned his back to me and walked off.
" Geez what a great idea." I said sarcastically. I turned back to the cakes. After a minute I heard a buggy being pushed my way.
" Ohhhh Becca." I heard and I turned to see Gabe with a buggy full of toys, at least three different cake mix boxes and icing.
" What are you doing?"
" Since we can't find the perfect cake we'll make the perfect cake." Gabe said confident.
" That's a brilliant idea!" I said and walked over to dig threw the buggy. We went to stand in line.
" Oh I forgot the stuff to make cookies!" I said and Gabe laughed.
" I'll get it." He said and walked off in the direction of the flour.
" Rebecca." I heard I turned slowly and a tall man was standing in front of me.
" Who are you?"
" I am Derek. " he said simply.
" It's been five years. Why now."
" Because now I want to make you suffer. I want you to be able to watch your life fall apart before I kill you off slowly." He said and smiled " I mean I watched you lose the love of your life only for you to rebuild. With your family. Although you still feel empty don't you? A void you can't feel? You've cried so much and yet you can't cry but there's just something you need." He said and walked behind me. He bent down real close to my ear. " I'll let you watch Jhonny died. And there will be nothing you can do about it." Then he left. I slumped down to my knees and placed my hand over my heart. I heard someone coming and looked up to see Gabe walking back. He was smiling till he saw me. He rushed over and bent down to me.
" What happened?" He asked and I opened my mouth to answer but nothing came out and I let the tears fall.
" Hey now." Gabe said and whipping my tears away. He helped me up and then he got down and offered to piggyback me. I climbed on his back and he finished in the store and he walked us back to the car. When we got to the car I got off his back. He opened to trunk and loaded it. I got in the car and not too long after he joined me.
" What happened?"
" It was Derek... " I said. " He said he was going to kill everyone and..."
" Stop. I understand." Gabe said and turned the car on. I looked to him and saw he was pissed.
" Gabe I-"
" No it's fine. Let's just go home okay?"
" Okay." I said and Gabe turned on the radio. I fell asleep as Kryptonite came on the radio.
