Letter 12: The Secret Between Them

The Parallel World Timeline of the Year 2012

Agnes:
“Okay, the relay runners for the athletic festival are Ethan, Anton, Harry, Mandy, Elizabeth, and Agnes.” Teacher said.
“Thanks, Anton! Do your best!” said the past runners to him and they slap his back.
“Ouch….” Exclaimed Anton.
“Harry, can you actually run?” said the other classmates to him.
“Of course not…. I was just tagged along by Elize.”
“Yes, you can! We can win this together! Let’s practice alone.” Elize said.
“Forget it. I quit.”
“Thank you, Agnes. Now I’m looking forward to the relay even more.” Ethan said with a smile.
“Your welcome, Ethan.”
“I figured you’d volunteer to, Agnes.” Mandy said to me.
“When she said she wanted to switch someone, we thought you’d be up for it, so we volunteered you!” Elize said.
“I see. Thank goodness we joined.”
I’m glad it worked out this way. I’m happy it turned out this way too. This time, we made a different choice that what the letter suggested. But if the results to save Ethan, then it’s good enough.

Evening night while I’m studying in my room, Anton calls me on the phone.

“I think you’re right.. Thank you, Anton.”
“Nah.. I didn’t do anything. It’s the others pulled this off.”
“Yeah. Well I’m gonna hit the sack.”
“Okay. The letter’s enters the day of the athletic festival. Anton… for now, I’m going to stop relying on the letter. Instead, I’m going to think to do something would make him happy and then I act on that.’
“Yeah. Sounds like a plan.”

After that night, the six of us practicing for the relay but it seems like Harry is bad at running.

“Okay, finish line. That was slow Harry!” shouted Elize to him.
“I told you I couldn’t do it!” Harry exclaims and he pants so hard.
“Maybe it’s because you run weird…”
“Shut up! I’m the slowest kid in class. I’m a disgrace and I know it.”
“I think you’re the slowest runner in the year.” Anton said with an annoying face.
“The teacher said that it was okay if we in last place. The point is that Ethan enjoys the athletic festival.” Elize said.
“And Ethan would enjoy coming in last, would he?”
“I want to run with Harry. If the six of us get to run together, I’ll be happy no matter what place. Running in the relay will make you popular, Harry.” Ethan said with a smile.
“Yessh. When you put it in that way, I don’t have a choice so fine. I’ll do it.”
“Let’s go back to class guys.”
“What’s next again?” Anton asks.
“Math.”

After class hours, Harry and Elize talk for a bit outside the door.

“Hey. On the the way home, I want you to hang out with me for a bit.” Harry said.
“Um, Okay….”
“Agnes, would you walk me to the door?” Ethan asks.
“Yeah, sure.”
“Anton, I’ll see you at the club.”
“Okay, tell them I gotta clean up here before I go.”

We’re alone at last. While we are walking in the hallways, Ethan seems suspicious about me.

“You walk slowly don’t you, Agnes? It’s like you’re always behind us every time we walk together.”
“Oh really?”
“Although that is just like you….”

Strange…. It’s not like that was a compliment but I’m happy to hear it. Ethan is noticing even the smallest thing about me.

When we got to the locker room, I suddenly tripped down towards to his body. Ethan suddenly lends his hand that he wants to holding hands.

“I’m sorry.” I said and he still lending his hand to me.
“What?”
“Nothing. Nothing really.” Ethan said and he stops lend his hand and he walks away.

What was that? Was he going to say something? I wonder if the letter said something about today. I remember I left the letter in my house because I’ll not gonna rely to it. I’ll try to do something.

Elizabeth:
When finally Harry and I got alone, he runs again for the relay but he still runs slowest like a snail.

“Hey, I got faster right? That was faster than before, wasn’t it?” Harry said and he lay down and catching his breath.
“Wow! You’re getting faster I guess!”
“Really! Awesome! How can I run even faster?”
“You didn’t need to practice anymore. In fact, I don’t know why you ask me out. The others are faster so you should have them coach you.”
“I thought you should practice too.”
“What? That wouldn’t require just the two of us. What is it?”
“There’s something I wanna tell you so hang out with me again tomorrow.”
“What?!”

Agnes:
“Ethan… can I walk you to the door?”
“Sure. I didn’t know that you’d ask me, Agnes.”
“There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
“I see….. Me too.”

I’ll try to ask him what happened. When we walk through the locker room, Ethan lend his hand to me again like the first time.

“What are you doing?” I ask.
“No. It’s nothing so forget about it.” he said and he walks away.
What was that? I don’t understand at all. I’m sorry…. I couldn’t do anything.
“What’s wrong? Did something happened to you?” Anton said.
“Did your letter said about Ethan today? I’m kinda worry here. I think something wrong.”
“Nope. You said that you’re not gonna rely to the letter right?”
It’s true but I feel so worried right now.
“Don’t rely so much to that letter. You’ve got these guys to help you.” He said and the others suddenly appear to us.
“Hey, Agnes. I thought you’re not hiding something.” Elize said with a smile.
“It seems like you’ve been troubled don’t you?  About Ethan.” Mandy said.
“It’s nothing seriously.”
“Why not talking to them?” Anton said to me.
“Well it seems like Ethan is acting weird and I don’t know what to do. It seems that he lends out his hand and I don’t know what to do. He had a sad expression if I didn’t answer.”
“Silly, he wants to holding hands with you.” Elize said with a laugh.
“Eh?!”
“Of course he’d look sad! He wants to hold hands with the poor guy!” Elize shouted.
“Not very manly of him though. I would’ve said right out, Hey, let’s hold hands.” Anton said with a laugh.
“Yeah, same.” Harry said.
“I didn’t know about that….” Elize said.
“That’s something in common between you and him. You both overthinking things alone.” Mandy said.
“That’s right, talk to us. I told you before, There’s nothing you to hide from us.” Elize said.
“Hey, why not tell them everything? They asked me the same question about Ethan and I said that I’ve got something weird stuff like yours.” Anton said.
I’ve thought about it before what would happen if I told them about the letter. I wonder if they’ll be shocked. Maybe they’ll not believe me. Maybe they’ll laugh at me.
“Well, I’ve got a letter… from my future said. It said that I must to save Ethan. So please guys, I want you all to help me…”
“Sure. Of course we will.” Elize said.
“Finally you asked. There’s something we want to show you.” Mandy said and they show me their letters that they’ve got from their future. I feel shocked and cry too.
“Sorry for keeping about it. We got letters from the future too. Harry, yesterday guys at the park he said something to me.” Elize said with a smile.
“At the park yesterday?” Mandy asks.
“What? You two are on a date?” Anton asks with a laugh.
“Idiot! It’s not! Who have thought that I will date this dumbass?!” Harry said and he shows us his letter.
“He’s got a letter too. We’re all received letters from the future. We all have the same goal. Let’s save Ethan together.”  Elize said.

I have friends. Friends who won’t change even ten years from now. Let’s save Ethan together.
