Chapter 7

After I push play, we sit on the couch and just talk. Although he does most of the talking,simply because I'm too baffled by this entire night to have anything to say. And then after a moment there's a natural silence in the conversation and I hear the libertines playing and I look at his relaxed smile and he stares back at me.

With a sudden surge of confidence, I force myself to ask him to hang out, mostly because I'm afraid if I don't he'll drift out of my life once more never to return.

"Are you, uh, doing anything this weekend?"

"Well it's Kellin's birthday so I was hoping to drive up and see him, but my parents think it's too far to go in my car because it's so unreliable," he replies.

"Oh, I could drive you in my car if you'd like?" I offer. The thought of a road trip with Mike to San Francisco made me smile, even if it was so he could see his impossibly cute boyfriend.

"Really? That'd be so great! Hang on let me call Kellin," he enthuses, fumbling in his pocket for his phone.

I watch as he talks excitedly into the receiver and see the adoration that wells in his eyes as he and Kellin speak. I wished very hard that was me on the other end of the phone call.

Pretty soon after, he decided to leave. He hugged me by his car. After pulling away I pressed the tape into his hand. "Keep it," I whispered. He smiled, hugged me again and drove off, ending one of the best nights of my life. I stood on the driveway at 1am just smiling softly to myself.

A/N: first off I love you thanks for reading. Secondly I'm about to start the next update rn it just works better as too separate chapters which is why it's so short. Thirdly how about this as a new idea for a fanfic: a group of jocks bully the quiet kid but one of them has a massive crush on him secretly and decides to reach out to him?
