My cheeks retained the flush that had permanently embedded itself into them as I walked down the hallways almost in a trance. And collided with a startled Bo Ra.
"Oppa! Are you alright?" she asked worriedly. My head snapped up as I met her gaze.
"Uh yes, I'm fine. Just lost in thought," I said, smiling distractedly at my little sister. She raised an eyebrow, pushing a strand of her hair that had come lose and straightening her gown which had been slightly rumpled by our collision.
"Obviously. And judging by the looks of it, these thoughts must be quite nice," Some kind of understanding flickered in her eyes as she studied me carefully, "This wouldn't have anything to do with the pretty new trainer would it?"
I blushed again, and this time slapped my cheek. Hard. Was I really that transparent?
"Wh-what are you talking about?"
Bo Ra cackled, her laughter echoing around us. Quite a few nobles passing us by, and even a few soldiers, eyed us curiously. "You aren't the only one who visits the Field of Poppies you know," She winked at me, her smile growing wider.
Had she been there last night too? I hissed, grabbing my sister by the elbow and hauling her away.
We walked out into a garden which jutted out in a parallel formation across the corridors of the main part of the palace. It was almost afternoon now and the sun was a blazing dot in the clear blue skies. But the chill in the air was unmistakable. Winter was coming.
Bo Ra and I walked across the verdant garden, reaching a small rectangular canopied seating area. The benches were constructed with obsidian stones and sunlight contracted against their smooth surfaces, emblazing them in a delicate brightness.
We sat on a bench by a small pond adjacent to it, watching the tiny goldfishes squirm around in the clear water. A golden parapet stretched out, leading to a small glass bridge constructed over the pond and a soft breeze rustled against my skin, ruffling my hair as I turned to face my sister.
"Don't get the wrong idea," I said solemnly, placing my palms on her shoulders, "Zephryn and I just happened to run into each other."
Bo Ra scrunched her forehead, "Did you also just happen to spend almost the entire night with her?"
"Were you there the whole time?" I exclaimed in disbelief.
Her smile grew into a smirk, "I wasn't. But you just confirmed it."
I mentally cursed myself and groaned out loud. Why did I have to be so foolish sometimes? "Seriously, we just talked."
Bo Ra laughed again, "Sure you did. I didn't imply you did anything else now did I?"
I scowled at her, "Don't be getting any ideas sister. It was nothing."
The smile eased off of Bo Ra's face, replaced by a thoughtful look, "I know you Oppa. It was something. You wouldn't be so preoccupied if it wasn't."
"What, so you're telepathic now?"
Bo Ra patted my shoulder as she stood up, "Even better. I'm your sister." She grinned at me, raising a hand in farewell as she began walking away.
I shook my head, watching her retreating figure saunter across the lawn and disappear behind one of the many doors of the palace.
And I wondered if there could be any truth to her words.

"I'm just about done with these meetings." I grunted in mild irritation as I made my way to the enormous ballroom, which also served as a dining hall, situated just a few doors away from the throne room. The hall was usually reserved only for important meetings and parties since my family preferred to dine in more private quarters.
