On his way to school, Ben was mobbed by reporters, who want a comment on him about his ex-girlfriend, Mal, "cheating" on him. He refused to say anything and proceeded towards the school. To his surprise, Mal shows up and positions herself in front of the cameras.
"Mal, what are you doing here?" asked Ben.
"I'm here to clear the air," said Mal.
"Mal!"
"Mal!"
"Mal!"
"What have you got to say for yourself?"
"Are you and the king broken up for good?"
"What about the Royal Cotillion?"
"Okay, okay, everyone, please, calm down," said Mal, trying to stop more questions from being thrown at her. "I will first like to say that... yes, me and the king are done for good."
The reporters gasped, and so did Ben.
"But I don't want you to think of this as some scandal or an act of villainy," said Mal. "It's my choice. I decide who I want to be. Besides, King Ben is totally cool with this."
"Is this true, your majesty?" asked a reporter.
Ben was silent for a few seconds, but he spoke. "Yes, it's true. I hold no ill will towards her choice."
Mal and Ben enter Auradon Prep while a couple of guards hold off the reporters.
"So, you chose Carlos," said Ben.
"You are okay with that, right?" asked Mal.
"I can't lie that I do feel a little jealous, but... like you said, it's your choice," said Ben.
"But now, who are you gonna have as a queen?" asked Mal.
"I can run this kingdom on my own," said Ben. "I just want you to be happy. If Carlos makes you happy, then I can't stop you from being who you really want to be with."
"But I don't want you to think that what we had wasn't real," said Mal.
"I know it wasn't," said Ben.
Mal looks at the signet ring on her finger. She takes it off and gives it to Ben.
"I'm really sorry," said Mal.
"You don't have to be," said Ben, taking the ring back. "Well, go on. Go find him."
Mal gives Ben a kiss on the cheek before wandering off to find the one she loves. Ben just smiled as he watched her walk away. She may not be his happily ever after, but he's glad she's happy.
- ROTTEN TO THE CORE -
Carlos was in his bedroom, analyzing some new code he just created himself. He noticed his door knob glowing. It was like magic. That meant only one thing.
The door opens, allowing Carlos to see his new girlfriend, Mal.
Before Carlos can say a word, Mal runs towards him with a big smile on her face and jumps at him, wrapping his arms around her. She ended up accidentally pushing him off the bed, dragging herself with him.
They fell on the floor, with Mal being top of Carlos, but instead of grunting in pain, they started laughing.
"You look happy," said Carlos.
"Didn't you see the news?" asked Mal.
"I did," said Carlos. "Is Ben really cool with this?"
"Would I lie to you?" asked Mal.
"You did play with my feelings," reminded Carlos.
Mal laughs a little. "Okay, I deserve that. But really, he's cool with this... with us."
"Good," said Carlos. "Last thing we need is a jealous ex-boyfriend."
"I still can't believe this is really happening," said Mal. "You and me, I mean... all of this because I tried to use a love spell to help you."
"You did help me," said Carlos. "If it weren't for that love spell, I would've never told you how I really feel about you."
"And if you hadn't, I may never have discovered how I truly feel about you," said Mal.
"Hey, uh, there's something I need to show you," said Carlos. "If you could just get off me first, please."
Mal gets off Carlos and helps him stand up. Carlos lifts his pillow, revealing a little box. He picks it up and opens it, showing Mal a ring. It had a purple heart-shaped jewel on it.
"Pure amethyst," said Carlos.
"It's beautiful," said Mal. "But I'm not ready to get married yet."
"It's not a engagement ring," said Carlos. "I made it while I was under your spell. After I found out you've been playing me, I wanted to get rid of it."
"But you didn't," said Mal.
"I'm glad I didn't," said Carlos. "I was gonna give this to you for your birthday, but since I didn't make this on my own free will, I thought I should let you know."
Mal takes the little box in her hands. She continued to stare at the ring. It was truly beautiful. Shen then looks up at Carlos. The look on his face tells her that it's up to her what she wants to do with the ring.
Mal takes the ring out of the box and puts it on her finger.
"Best present ever," said Mal.
"Better than the necklace your mother gave you?" asked Carlos.
"At least this one was given out of pure love," said Mal.
"It looks pretty on you," said Carlos.
Mal smiled and blushed. She brushed some of her hair in front of her left eye to hide her embarrassment. Carlos brushed the strands off her eye, allowing him to see both her sparkling green eyes.
"I love you," said Mal.
"I love you, too," said Carlos.
Mal put her hand on Carlos' cheek and they kissed. The kiss was cut short by Dude's barking. The dog looked like he was feeling woozy. He wanders around the bed until he fell off.
Mal and Carlos laughed a little. Their laughter was interrupted when they heard what seems like throwing up from the other side of the bed.
"I think Dude just lost his lunch," said Mal, laughing in between words.
Carlos walks towards Dude and sees the mess her made. He picks him up with care and pats him in the back. Mal then pets Dude. While she does, she stares into Carlos' eyes. He stares back and smiles.
"Could you ever imagine us being in this position?" asked Carlos.
"To be honest, never," said Mal. "But love does work in mysterious ways. In this case, locked up feelings revealed by enchanted cookies."
"Happily ever after with a little flavor," commented Carlos
Mal giggled in amusement.
I hope this was a satisfying ending. I'd hate to disappoint anyone. Leave a comment and let me know what you think about the ending and, if you want to, the entire story. I'd appreciate it.
