Jason's POV
A full week has passed since Percy returned, yet only the people in the Big House when he returned know who he is. Either one of us will crack, or someone will figure it out.
Hopefully the latter.
Ever since Jackson got back, I've noticed this darker mood around camp, like everyone knows who he is but is too afraid to confront him about it. Not even the people who he reintroduced himself to talk to him anymore, which I figured makes him extremely upset and/or depressed.
I planned on changing that today. For the better.
Me and the other members of the Seven, minus Annabeth, had planned out a little prank for the Hero of Olympus. Nico, Reyna, and Thalia were on it, even though Nico and Reyna didn't know who they were pranking.
We set up little snares here and there, courtesy of Thalia, before making a beeline towards the beach. I had noticed Percy went there a lot since he returned, so I figured this would be the best place to get him.
Simply put, the plan was to irritate Percy enough so he'd come to the beach, then me and Thalia give him a little zap when he swam in.
Rude? Probably
Inconsiderate? Depends
Funny? Hades yes
We made Percy feel like crap the entire day, bumping into him roughly, escalating conversations, etc. Finally, he stormed off to the beach, a very faint sea blue tinge around him.
I could tell Thalia was hesitant to continue with the prank, seeing how pissed Percy was. But I told her she could bail if she wanted and I could zap him. She gave me a look of gratitude and ran off to her cabin.
When I heard twigs snapping, I jerked my head to the source and saw a very sea blue child of Poseidon. I paled a little, feeling like I was signing my death warrant, but I kept going anyways.
He sat on the shore for a bit, enjoying the sunset before slowly wading into the water, allowing the cold to seep into his clothes. I saw my chance and immediately summoned a lightning bolt when Percy was submerged completely underwater. His back arched and he spased out, splashing and squirming in the shallows.
As soon as the water wasn't so shocking (don't kill me) Percy scrambled onto the shore, sputtering and coughing out water. Normally, he could keep himself dry. But I guess trying hard not to die from electrocution really takes priority.
He stood up and looked around for a minute, probably trying to find the culprit. I was behind some bushes and wasn't breathing, so I wasn't too worried.
Until he turned my direction.
He stared me square in the eyes, showing all 100% of his anger. Despite the fact that I was able to take down Titans without so much as a twitch, I was scared for my life. He walked over to me methodically, allowing his sea green outline to grow brighter and brighter until I had to squint to see his outline.
"Get out of the bushes Grace," he said, his voice steely calm. I hesitated, worried he'd kill me on sight. "I warned you," was all he muttered before dragging me out from them.
He walked to the arena, dragging me by my collar. A small crowd had formed around the spectacle, and then I remembered no one else knew it was Percy dragging me. They saw some new guy acting like a punk.
Soon, he let go of me, my head hitting the brick floor (don't kill me here either) as he walked over to the other end of the arena. Without a word, he drew Riptide and got into his signature fighting stance, which earned gasps from the older campers.
I sighed and asked, "Do you really want to do this?" He nodded slightly in response. I pinched the bridge of my nose and got my Imperial Gold coin. I flipped it, but before I could grab it, Percy darted forward, almost to where I was in a second.
I barely hand enough time to snatch my weapon, an Imperial Gold gladius, before I was under an offensive onslaught from Olympus' savior. I parried and blocked although the latter hurt. Occasionally, I was able to get a stab or two in but the hit never landed.
Unfortunately for me, I barely practiced any swordplay since the end of the Giant War. And apparently, Percy had been a lot more focused on training for another battle. And I was always worse than him to begin with, so the lack of training made the situation much worse.
My mistake came when I feinted to the left and tried stabbing into his right side. He saw the move from a mile away and jerked Riptide upwards, which was currently under ny gladius.
It flew sky high, and Percy knocked me off my feet before I could fly up to get it. He snatched it when it was close enough and pointed my own blade at my throat, digging into the Adam's apple.
"Yield," he growled, drawing a tiny bit a blood from below my Adam's apple. I snarled, before finally muttering, "I yield." He took my blade away from his throat and flipped my blade, handing me the handle. I grumbled as I took it, using it to get myself up.
He grabbed me by the front of my collar and pulled me in close. "If you ever do something like that," he said menacingly, "I will not hesitate to kill you where you stand." I paled and nodded slightly, earning a slightly less pissed glare from him.
"WHAT THE HADES IS GOING ON?" someone thundered. I turned to see a very pissed daughter of Zeus striding up to us, thunder crackling around her. Percy pushed me roughly towards her and snarled, "Ask your brother. He knows why I was kicking his ass a second ago."
Thalia narrowed her electric blue eyes at me. "You and I will have words later," she snarled, before pushing me behind her and slapping her wristwatch. Aegis sprang to life and everyone flinched away.
Everyone except a certain son of Poseidon.
He growled and readied his blade once more. Thalia snarled, pulled out her Mace canister, and her spear elongated to it's familiar length. Slamming it against her shield, she charged at Percy, spear pointed straight towards his chest.
She was both surprised and horrified when she hit her mark.
Percy just stood there and took it, earning himself a painful new body piercing. His only reaction was a sadistic smirk, blood beginning to pool out from his mouth. It grew into a full blown crazy man grin as he pulled himself across Thalia's spear, closing the distance between the two.
She stood there, paralyzed by astonishment at what she had just done. Before she could recuperate, Percy slammed Riptide's hilt into the side of her head. She crumpled, letting go of her spear in the process. Percy broke the canister and tore the spear out from his chest. As soon as that was done, he stumbled his way back to the lake.
A stunned silence surrounded everyone present.
At least, until a certain centaur showed up.
"Okay children, wha-" he said, before stopping midsentence and analyzing the carnage left behind by Percy. Blood was sprayed all over the floor, onto Thalia's spear tip, and on Thalia's clothes. He paled noticeably, his tail swishing uncontrollably before asking, "W-what h-h-happened here?"
Instantly, everyone pointed towards me and the lake. Awww schist, I thought angrily. Chiron trotted over and, without a word, picked me by the scruff of my neck and dragged my towards the lake.
What we saw there made us feel worse than anything that happened before.
The route Percy took to reach the lake was obvious enough, seeing as the bloody footprints remained. The shoreline was lined with bloody sand, and the shallows were tinged pink with blood.
Worse of all, Percy was lying down in the water facefirst.
