After the surprisingly successful day at Brian's parents' house, Ellie and Brian returned to his flat. It wasn't hard to imagine what they did. They went to sleep rather late, again. During the week Brian was busy with the band, they spent time practising for their show in Cornwall the following Saturday. Ellie had to work most days, but she did make time for brunch on Wednesday, the traditional brunch with the girls, and the first time Ellie would see Lynn again in quite a while.
To say she was looking forward to that was an understatement. There was a lot to discuss between the two young women. Communication hadn't exactly been one of their strengths in the past few weeks and there was a lot to catch up on. Ellie was the most curious about why Lynn had been so elusive in the recent past. It was far from the friendship that they used to have when they shared a flat and she missed that. She needed to solve that.
With that task in her mind she got ready in the morning, packing her uniform as well because she'd have to work later that day. Luckily she would be sharing her shift with Mary, that always made it a lot more bearable - even if her boss and the customers were bitchy. It took a few moments because she was a bit all over the place but when she was sure that she had everything, she left for the café.
It wasn't a long walk and yet Ellie was running a little late - as usually. However, when she stepped through the door of the little café she could only see Mary sitting at a table. Lynn was nowhere in sight. Normally Ellie was the last one to get there, so she was a little surprised by that, but then again, Lynn wasn't always on time so it wasn't very surprising. A bit disappointing but there was nothing she could do except to hope that Lynn would show up eventually. She took a deep breath and with a smile on her face Ellie went over to the table. "Hey you," she greeted Mary and hugged her.
"Hey!" Mary exclaimed, hugging her back. "I was worried you both might ditch me and go off on your own," she joked.
Ellie chuckled and sat down, carefully placing her jacket over the back of her chair. "Don't be silly. You know I'm not good at being on time, but I would never not show up."
"Yeah, I know. And you know, I would be worried if you were on time for a change," Mary teased.
"Oh be quiet," Ellie replied, smirking at her. Despite everything that was happening with Lynn, Ellie was in an incredibly good mood that morning. And the reason for that was a certain young man who happened to be a fabulous guitarist. She had spent the past nights at Brian's place, except for the night before because he had been out with Dave and a few other friends. Ellie didn't want to crash in on their guys' night out, and at the same time they had agreed that once in a while spending time apart wasn't wrong. It only made her look forward even more to seeing him again. Just as it was the plan for that night.
"Someone is happy," Mary noticed, winking at her. "So things between you and curly head are going well?"
"So well," Ellie gushed, biting her lip. "He's amazing."
"So you did it again after Saturday?" Mary asked, smiling widely.
Smirking, Ellie nodded. "Yes... and he's amazing. But that's all I'm going to say because I promised him. If I find out he told his friends about what we did I'll tell you more, but for now I have to make sure I don't mess up again."
Mary nodded. "That makes sense. I get that, don't worry. But you're happy and that's all that counts. How did it go on Sunday? I know you were really nervous about that."
