"So?" Brian asked breathlessly, smirking at Ellie as he lay down next to her.
"What kind of question is that?" She replied, chuckling softly. "You're making it hard to stay quiet."
"I could tell yes," he said, a hint of a proud undertone swinging in his voice. He wiped his forehead before he leaned in to kiss her cheek.
Ellie rolled onto her side, smiling widely before she kissed him softly. "I'm so glad you're here," she told him quietly. "It means a lot."
"It means a lot to me too," Brian told her. "And I'd hug you just I think I should get cleaned up first..."
Ellie chuckled. "Yes, good point. We should probably get dressed anyway before they come to check on us.. You can borrow my robe if you want to," she told Brian, sitting up.
They both cleaned up a little before they were back in Ellie's bedroom. "So," Brian said. "Since you're going to look fabulous, what should I wear to try and match that? I don't want people to question why you settled for someone weird looking like me.."
Ellie wrapped her arms around him, shaking her head. "Don't say things like that, you don't look weird, Brian. You look very very handsome. But if that makes you feel a little better I'll help you choose something to wear," she told him and kissed his cheek.
"I think it might, yes," Brian admitted. "I just... I'm nervous about meeting your entire family basically," he added, shrugging a little.
"Hm... yeah, you're right... I didn't consider that you being here for my parents' birthdays would mean you meeting all of my family.."
Brian looked at her and took a hold of her hand. "Do you think it's a bad idea now? I'm okay with hiding up here if you changed your mind."
"No, don't be silly," Ellie immediately told him. "I'm not ashamed of you. Yes, maybe it's a little soon, but ... it's now, and I don't want to have to wait for an entire year before you meet them all, you know? I don't know how to explain this sort of thing," she admitted. "I'm sorry.."
"It's okay," Brian assured her. "I just don't want you to do anything you might regret."
"I won't regret this, Brian. You're a wonderful guy and I'm happy with you. Very happy. And I'm not ..." She squinted and shook her head a little. "I'm not afraid of being seen with you or anything like that. I don't know if that's what you're thinking. It would make me very happy and proud if my family knows that I have such a wonderful boyfriend. That's nothing bad, you know? You've introduced me to your family haven't you?"
"Yeah," Brian confirmed after a moment of thought. "That's true. Alright. I think I'm just nervous."
"Despite what we just did?" Ellie teased, rubbing his back.
"Well that did help a little," he chuckled. "But yeah... I mean... you might have to explain some things they say to me because I don't really seem to speak your language up here as well as I thought. I'm used to my grandparents but ... they try..."
"Oh yes... sorry, I keep forgetting..."
"I don't mind, it's cute. You disguised really well how Scottish you actually are. It's cute, I like it a lot. Do you realise how different you sound?" He asked, wrapping his arms around her.
"I usually do afterwards... I don't know, I've just talked to you like this since we've known each other, but if I talked to my parents like this they wouldn't take me seriously. It's weird, it's a bit like I'm two people and when you're all in the room I have to ... well... compromise. It's surprisingly stressful," she chuckled.
"I'm sorry. You can be as Scottish as you want, I'll work it out somehow. And if I can't I'll ask."
"Alright. I might actually do that later, yeah. By the way, if people give you a hard time for being English tell them abut your mum."
