I hear the gate of the base open, followed by the sound of three autobots coming in with their humans and transforming. The human are all laughing, saying they had a great time, and Bulkhead plucks a guitar case from his chases and I cringe.
"Oops, must have left that in the back seat." Miko said and took the guitar case.
"Autobots, prepare to-" Optimus suddenly pauses. He looks at Arcee and the humans behind her.
"Roll out?" Arcee offers.
"Remain here." Optimus counters. "Ratchet, Jadelynn, you will come with me." I nod and strap my blasters to my waist and my large energon imprinted sword to my back, as well as my smaller weapons in my boots. "Arcee, we will be out of communications range for sometime. I'm leaving you in charge."
"Dude, you're biggest! You should be the boss!" Miko says and points to Bulkhead as I roll my eyes.
"He never picks me." Bulkhead answers with a chuckle.
"Optimus, with all due respect, playing bodyguard is one thing, babysitting in another." Arcee growled. "Besides, Ratchet hasn't been in the field since the war." She added.
"My pistons may be rusty but my hearing is as sharp as ever!" He yelled back from his computer.
"For the moment, this is only reconnaissance." Optimus replied.
"Then why do I hear an edge in your voice?" Arcee challenged.
"Arcee, much is changing, and we must all learn to adapt. Ratchet, bridge us out." Optimus ordered and Ratchet opened a ground bridge.
"Be careful, Jade!" Bumblebee yelled at me.
"I always am, Bee! Love ya, see you soon!" I yelled from Optimus's shoulder and we entered the ground bridge.
When we walked through the bridge, the only thing to be seen on the other side was a barren landscape that could only be described as, dead.
"Optimus, what could we possibly hope to find here?" I asked him as he faced me on his shoulder.
"The site of the largest Cybertronian battlefield in this galaxy." He replied.
"On earth?" Ratchet asks incredulously. "You must be joking."
"Do you recall, the point late in the war, when both sides began hiding their energon spoils off world?" Optimus asks and turns to the medic.
"It's the reason energon deposits exist on planets such as this one." Ratchet replied.
"It's also the reason battles came to be waged on planets such as this one. And I fear Megatron's memory may be as long as history."
After walking with the bots for nearly two whole hours, I turn to Optimus.
"Optimus, why couldn't we just ground bridge closer to the battlefield?" I asked him, quite bored after all the walking.
"The site of the battle is only fabled, I only know the general area in which the battle would have been waged. I did not know the precise coordinates." He explained. I groaned and fell back on his shoulder, only to sit right back up when the two large bots stopped walking.
I peered over Optimus's shoulder to see hundreds of dead Cybertronians littering the area.
"For the first time in my life, Optimus, I had hoped you were wrong." Ratchet commented and shook his head in disbelief.
Optimus raises his hand to his shoulder to pick me up and he set me on a rock above his head.
"Jadelynn, travel to higher ground for extra precautions. I do not want to take unnecessary risks." He said and I nodded in return as I continued to climb up the rocks, about halfway up the height of the formation. I found a path at that height and walked with the autuobots, closer to the battlefield.
