After Ratchet put Bumblebee into power down mode, I noticed Raphael hadn't left with the others.
"Hey kid, why you still here?" I asked and approached him.
"I wanted to stay and make sure Bee will be okay. He's like family to me." Raph said sadly.
"I understand." I nodded at him and sat down to his right. I thought about the amount of time I've spent with Raphael. Considering how close he is with my best friend, I should really know more about the kid.
"Hey Raph, you feel like taking a short trip?" I asked him. He looked at me, slightly intrigued. "Well, you said you wanted to see snow right?" His eyes lit up and he jumped to his feet in front of me.
"Seriously? Right now?!" Raph asked excitedly.
"Let me ask Ratchet." I replied and went to find the mech.
"Hey Ratch, can you open the groundbridge for me?" I asked.
"Where are you going?" Ratchet asked.
"Fulfilling a promise I made to Raph. We shouldn't be long. I already plugged in the coordinates on my watch." I told him. He went over to the groundbridge, and when he noticed the coordinates, he smiled so small, I almost missed it.
"Call when you feel like coming back." Ratch said and opened up the groundbridge. I smiled and got on my only motorcycle that I've been able to fix since the scraplet incident. I threw Raph a helmet and grabbed my gear just to be safe.
"Put it on and climb aboard, kid." I told him. "It'll be a short ride, nothing to be afraid of."
"I get to ride on a motorcycle?" Raph said to himself with even more excitement. We drove through the groundbridge and it opened up directly onto a dirt road.
As the groundbridge closes, I notice we're surrounded by fern trees, covered in a blanket of perfectly white snow. In the sky, you can see the stars behind a cover of bright colors, the northern lights. I stop my bike near a fallen down tree so we can sit and admire the sky.
"Where are we?" Raph asks after he takes off the helmet.
"Fairbanks, Alaska. Best place to view the Northern Lights on our continent. Didn't think your mother would take to kindly to you traveling across the Atlantic without her permission. That is, if she ever found out."
"Let's just hope she doesn't. She'd ground me for life just for leaving Jasper without permission." He chuckled and I sat down on the log. Raph stares out into the wall of fern trees, covered in snow. There's a good few inches of snow on the ground, but not enough for our feet to be buried in it.
"It's so dense." He whispers as he takes a few more steps and feels the crisp snow beneath his feet.
"Yeah, it's pretty thick snow right now. Personally my favorite kind of snow is the light kind that falls perfectly in my hair and the flakes can still keep their shape. Most people like the dense stuff because they can make snowmen and forts and stuff out of them." I say and stare out into the sky. After a few moments I bring my gaze down just in time to see a flash of white before a wave of freezing cold hits me. Raphael just threw a snowball at me.
"You are so on kid!" I tell him and we both start pelting each other with snow and laughing. It wasn't so much of a real snowball fight, we were just having fun. After a while we sat down on the log and stared up at the stars.
"So Raph, how is your life back home? I realized I don't know much about my best friend's partner."I say and glance over at him. He sighs sadly for a moment.
